Music Director, Joseph Hodge. Rehearsals are held at the Holy Family Retreat Center, 303 Tunxis Road, West Hartford, CT on Tuesday nights from 7:30 to 9:45 PM. Please bring your own music stand. The rehearsal schedule is posted below. The week prior to each concert, two rehearsals are held, on Tuesday and Thursday, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 120 Sigourney Street, Hartford, CT. Music Director, Joseph Hodge. The Connecticut Valley Symphony Orchestra, now in its 86th season, is the Capital Region’s oldest community orchestra. It was founded in 1930, during the Depression, as the String Orchestra of the Hartford School of Music. Harold Berkley led the orchestra until 1960 when Vytautas Marijosius, chairman of the conducting department at the Hartt College of Music, began a six-year stint as music director. More than fifty serious amateurs and music educators. What do we do? Perform four concerts each year in Hartford. Provide exceptional and affordable performances. Why do we do it? For the joy of making music for our community. Why do we need your support? Most importantly, we rely on the individual donor for additional support in order to meet our budget.
