Meet Ms. Padgen and Ms. Talbot. Tuesday, September 27, 2016. The Llama River is a fictional river that could be anywhere in which children are growing and learning. On the other hand, your child "owns" a piece of this vibrant community. What affect does each property have on the health of the river? Inquiring with our Y5 Buddies. They were buzzing with excitement after meeting their Young 5's Buddies today! It was wonderful to see them interact with kindness and caring on the playground this morning.

Our Classroom Community: May 2016
http://padgen.blogspot.com/2016_05_01_archive.html
Meet Ms. Padgen and Ms. Talbot. Sunday, May 15, 2016. It is with great sadness that I shared with your child that Tony Porras died last week after a long hospitalization. We cried together, shared stories, and talked as we began to process this unexpected news. While our classroom was full of grief, it was also full of love, as children reached out to support each other and also to share how much Tony meant to them. Smile on, young friend, smile on! Week of May 16th. Sunday, May 8, 2016. Week of May 9th.

Our Classroom Community: Curriculum
http://padgen.blogspot.com/p/curriculum.html
Meet Ms. Padgen and Ms. Talbot. The 5th grade literacy block consists of Reading Workshop, Word Study, and Writer’s Workshop. Reading Workshop begins with a mini-lesson where students learn more about comprehension and word-solving skills. The mini-lesson is followed by an independent reading time where students will select books from the classroom library, read independently, and then respond to their reading in a weekly Response Letter. The Reading Workshop time ends with a sharing of the days work.
