April 9, 2010 at 8:20 am · Filed under Sports Musings. 8230;the Michelin Man. 8230;Oprah’s belly. What a putrid display by the team in Carolina with the CH on the jersey. No urgency, no desire. Can’t win a faceoff, losing every one one battle, skating in quicksand, passes lacking accuracy and crispness. Is it coaching? No comments yet ». Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

So, what’s happened since my last post? It’s 5 am, time to get up. “Yessir, I’ll have another….” CRASH! It’s the 50th time I’m flipping you over son to dunk the basketball, don’t you have any sympathy for my back? Or my old age? No comments yet ». Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

I can’t imagine what his family, his son, his relatives and those that are his current circle are going through dealing with this. As someone who was lucky enough to spend time with him as a child, I have some wonderful childhood memories with him. I feel really fortunate to have had that time with him. 8230;because no one can spell Kyrgyzstan. I am, in fact, alive. So, I’ve been swamped the last couple of weeks, fully delving into the research aspect of my Fulbright. Thus far, I’ve collected and processed 1500 surveys from schools around Kyrgyzstan. I’m taking off next week to head to Talas, a region in northwestern Kyrgyzstan, to continue collecting surveys. It’s intensive work, but I’m really enjoying interacting with students all over the country. It helped that I was ambivalent to who won. You are ...

Everything is broken down into six pieces. 1) Language Use Survey (English). This is the English translation of the survey that I distributed to over 4000 6th and 7th graders across Kyrgyzstan. The survey was available in Kyrgyz and Russian. The students chose whether to take the survey in Kyrgyz or Russian. 2) Survey Demographic Results. 3) Language Ability Results.

8230;because no one can spell Kyrgyzstan. So, I’m overdue a long post about what it’s like to to my fieldwork here in Kyrgyzstan. And that should be rectified by the end of the week. 8230;because no one can spell Kyrgyzstan. Thanks to all of you for being patient with me over the last month. After leaving India, I spent a week and a half checking out Oman and the UAE. Then it was back to the US for a whirlwind, two-week graduate school visit. I checked out six campuses in 11 days (and managed to make a side trip down to North Carolina to see friends and family). 8230;because no one can spell Kyrgyzstan. So, yeah, I kind of let the blog go after I figured out where I was going to grad school. My last couple of months in Kyrgyzstan were pretty much collecting and processing data and prepping for my move back to the States. I left Kyrgyzstan in the middle of June and spent a week and a half traveling around Latvia, Lithuania and Poland before flying back to the States on July 1. After six weeks of waiting tables (and trying to save some money! Date : August 18, 2011.

8230;because no one can spell Kyrgyzstan. I believe that, when traveling or living abroad, it is important to hold on to aspects and traditions from your own culture while immersing yourself in and attempting to understand the culture where you are. For that reason, if I’m able to, I try to celebrate the important American holidays when I’m abroad. So this weekend, we had Thanksgiving in Bishkek! But, you can’t have a traditional Thanksgiving meal without it, so I bought two 8 lb turkeys, stuck the...

8230;because no one can spell Kyrgyzstan. Research, Grad School and India, Oh My! Well, hello there, patient friends and readers. Admittedly, my truancy merits apology, but too many blog posts start off in just that form, so I’m just going to say HI! And hope that all is forgiven. Do you still love me? Because I still love you. A lot has gone down in the last month or so, so let me try to give you a comprehensive, but not too boring update on the wonderful world that I live in. Then there was the time th...

Maker of real and digital things. A simple browser notepad. August 28th, 2015 · MTF. Last year I stumbled across this post. About a one line browser notepad. The post was interesting, but the comments were fascinating, each one building functionality on the next. Being a tinkerer myself, I added my own changes. Ability to save & open (if neccessary, I never do). Simple formatting (allow bolding). Continue reading ». How to remove copy/paste and print restrictions from a PDF file. Continue reading ».

Mar 16, 2012. See that guy staggering around his room, like Marlon Brando at the end of The Godfather. Grasping for his breath and not finding it anywhere? That’s me. My heart’s being squeezed like a pimple as the Snake wraps around it and won’t let go. I keep crying uncle, but the Snake keeps on squeezing. Death in the abstract is very different to when you feel its cold breath on your face and smell its sour stench in your nostrils. Can you hear me crying like a baby?
