We hit up capitol hill tonight, which seemed to be a pretty cool neck of the woods – although it had the whole faux alternative, actually yuppy thing going on. started off with a Russian River “Pliny the Elder”, which i’m pretty sure was an IPA – pretty big citrus flavour with a bit of pine in there, made me think i was back in california! We went to Whistlers premier (only) teppanyaki place and i was happy to see they had a good range of local beers not just the Japanese beers you usually see. i went for a Vancouver brew – Granville Island Brewing’s, English Bay Pale Ale. We went to the Taphouse today for lunch, right in Downtown Seattle – i was instantly greeted with the scene of well over 100 taps on the wall… hence the name Taphouse i guess. 160 beers on tap. There was also a full menu of all of the beers as well, which was great. i ended up ordering the bartenders choice tasting rack. More important than choosing the meal. So we went to a relatively fancy establishment for Christmas dinner. i’m not usually much of a cocktail kind of guy, but the cocktail cart came around and there was a very interesting drink on the menu – the John Cezzar. there were a few ingredients listed, among them dehydrated beer and spices, so i had to give it a go. Do not order this drink, unless you enjoy the combination of clam and tomato in your cocktail.
