Sailing Britannia: November 2011
http://sailingbritannia.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 25, 2011. The passage of cascading failures and the wrong wind. From Tonga to New Zealand. Maybe we should have taken the signs more seriously. I mean, sailors as a group are superstitious, and we are sailors now. Fixing the shroud in the Opua marina. The next day, still splashing and bashing I smelled something aweful and toxic. What could it be? Draining water from the fuel filter underway in the night. The crew in good spirits. Krister and Joe enjoying the sunshine and calm. Always ke...

Sailing Britannia: Holidays down-under
http://sailingbritannia.blogspot.com/2012/12/holidays-down-under.html
Thursday, December 27, 2012. Krister and I continue to enjoy ourselves in Brisbane. The holidays are not the same as when we were kids, or when we were in the States, but they are jolly fun anyway. White boomers, Christmas crackers, minced pies, custard, and summery picnics with friends. Christmas day cruiser picnic. Opening a Christmas cracker. Christmas morning on Convivia; Lego mania! Merry Christmas Britannia; our new fiberglass propane tank! Wishing you all happy adventures! Merry Christmas you two!

Sailing Britannia: More on Vanuatu
http://sailingbritannia.blogspot.com/2012/11/more-on-vanuatu.html
Tuesday, November 27, 2012. I'm sorry these didn't get posted and written about sooner. Our time in Vanuatu was too short so I spent most of it out seeing as much as I could before we had to leave. We had a great time celebrating our 6th anniversary, eating out, visiting the markets and getting away from town to see Mele Cascades waterfalls. Here are the highlights. Mele Cascades; waterfall near Port Vila. Very easy hike to the top, including handrails for walking over slippery rocks. A sprouted coconut;...

Sailing Britannia: An Update
http://sailingbritannia.blogspot.com/2013/05/an-update.html
Sunday, May 26, 2013. It's late. And tomorrow is my last day of work. Again. So I'll keep this short. Krister and I have been working in the Bay Area for the last five months, but we're about to leave on another adventure next Friday. We've been haphazardly getting ready, making plans and figuring "things" out. So what's next for us? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Le Morne Brabant: Hike. Where are Shawn and Chris? Wedding Day: Our Commitments. Blue Moon NZbound: SailBlogs. It’s cold here!

Sailing Britannia: June 2012
http://sailingbritannia.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 20, 2012. This is a random assortment of photos from the last couple weeks. Yes I've gotten that lazy. here's my 1000 words in pictures. Britannia anchored off the north west side of Taveuni. Kitty crazy- it's been a long time for me. Snorkeling with a group of cruisers. So yeah you start on the top and slide all the way down- exhilarating! An exotic flower in front of an even more exotic scene. Oh climbing coconut trees isn't as easy as it looks. This is the main road around Rabi. When w...

Sailing Britannia: July 2012
http://sailingbritannia.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 28, 2012. The Wind, The Reef, and The Long Night. The weather reports we get have been, as a rule, quite accurate. When we're underway, we get GRIB files and listen to a great radio net run by a former meteorologist. When we're able to, we check a number of weather related websites as well. So, it was a little exciting to realize that we could still be taken by surprise. I'd normally have no trouble sleeping through 20 knots, but the wind had shifted such that rather than being abeam of Pi...

Sailing Endurance: May 2010
http://sailingendurance.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 28, 2010. Posted by Paula Beemer. Links to this post. Rain, rain go away, come again… when we are gone. I love the rain, the sound of it, the green it leaves behind, the gem looking water drops on the banana leafs, the way my coffee tastes as this happens, the homey feeling of any under roof place, plus when its not accompanied by cold, but instead the perfect temperature, how much better could it get? No one is there, just a few other dogs. I feel inspired to exercise! Posted by Paula Beemer.
