Colour, shape and texture in south-west France. Project 2 - Recording and capturing. A few hours working on ‘recording and capturing’ my three items. I followed the brief at first, avoiding colour and trying to capture the essence of the textiles in pencil and ink. Shawl: using wet and dry ink to show folds and drape. Ink wash on tracing paper, scrap of crochet used to dab and print in the wet ink. Tracing paper again, trying to create the slubs in the silk with wc ink applied straight from the dropper.

Colour, shape and texture in south-west France. Although the dates on my work show that I spent around three weeks actually producing these drawings, the hours put in were substantial. I’m on the long summer holiday so I’ve been able to put in 6-8 hours most days and I tried to do something every day. I also spent a couple of weeks mind-mapping and thinking everything through.
