Been busy recently packing wife off to India and getting a new job, but have been doing work creating a testbed system to start getting into the red-green development model that Ben raves about. So, been playing about with using the local interpreter to compress files to send to the remote one. Last night I noticed that files compressed with the LZWEncode filter weren't in fact smaller than the originals - they were about 15% bigger, but the decode filter was able to work with them afterwards without problems. I tried several tests and they all came back with the same problem, so posted to comp.lang.postscript and got the answer back that yes, I was right, the filter doesn't compress. This worke...
