Miles from Nowhere . . .: Time to Start Paddling
http://violet1953.blogspot.com/2011/04/time-to-start-paddling.html
Miles from Nowhere . . . Reflections from an Uncommon Violet. Thursday, April 28, 2011. Time to Start Paddling. A prelude to spring, I guess . . Last night it rained so hard that my street turned into a raging river. I'm not kidding- the city storm sewers were completely overwhelmed when we got 2" of rain within about 15 minutes. It was insane. Speaking of better weather, we actually got to ride our bikes OUTSIDE on Sunday! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thanksgiving Letter to the Family 2016. Lord ...

Miles from Nowhere . . .: Mid-term Update
http://violet1953.blogspot.com/2012/03/mid-term-update.html
Miles from Nowhere . . . Reflections from an Uncommon Violet. Tuesday, March 13, 2012. I am almost afraid to say this- but I think that spring is about to arrive in A2. I have little green shoots coming up everywhere in my garden and the tree buds are starting to open. We actually went on a REAL bike ride on Sunday! Temps made it up to 60 degrees so we hit the road. We managed 26 miles before we ran out of time. I have hopes that this is the beginning of routine outdoor biking! Warm up the planet. The Da...

Miles from Nowhere . . . Reflections from an Uncommon Violet. Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Well, after several weeks of power walking and running the dogs through the woods, I finally returned to the gym this past weekend. Saturday was 30 minutes of elliptical followed by upper and lower body weights. Sunday was 60 minutes of spinning. Yesterday was a rest day. I am planning to ride 25 miles at an organized ride this coming Sunday. I am hoping for no rain, although that is forecast at this point. The Daily B...

Miles from Nowhere . . . Reflections from an Uncommon Violet. Thursday, March 17, 2011. After our two weeks spent in Georgia and North Carolina, where the temps were in the 70's, I'm ready to get the bike back on the road. Problem is . . . Michigan still hasn't received the memo about spring. But training will commence, no matter what! Today I worked out my training plan and it's ready for posting on the refrigerator. I'm pumped. For the first time in years I'm ready to go back into training.

Miles from Nowhere . . . Reflections from an Uncommon Violet. Wednesday, May 19, 2010. Heading North, to Wilderness. Tomorrow morning, probably around 10 am, we will leave the comforts of Ann Arbor for Wilderness State Park, about 10 miles west of the Mackinac Bridge. We will camp there for 4 days, on the beach overlooking Lake Michigan, and also do a 52-mile bike ride with the Zoo-de-Mack crew. This is not my father's camping! Wednesday, May 12, 2010. I have always ascribed to the system of lifting one ...

Miles from Nowhere . . . Reflections from an Uncommon Violet. Tuesday, May 22, 2012. The Great Springtime Reset. I'm on the verge of having this whole summer slip through my hands without accomplishing anything on my to-do list. I'm not exactly sure why this is; I just know that I am avoiding structure like crazy. This is a very dramatic departure from someone who is the queen of lists, of long-term planning, of running simulations of every possible outcome. I just don't want to do it anymore. I guess I'...
