Bookbinder, Voice Coach, Musical Director, Granddad. Wednesday, 30 January 2013. I attended a seminar on local fundraising this afternoon at the Milton Keynes Community Foundation and found that the newish local giving system they promote means a small non-charitable group can raise funds through the site and receive Gift Aid, when this is not possible otherwise. It strikes me that MK Community Cardiac Group could benefit a lot from it. More later when I know more. MK Community Cardiac Group.

TaggingAround: Why Getting Old Can Be A Pain
http://taggingaround.blogspot.com/2012/05/why-getting-old-can-be-pain.html
Bookbinder, Voice Coach, Musical Director, Granddad. Wednesday, 16 May 2012. Why Getting Old Can Be A Pain. Since last week, I have been to hospital three times. Last Tuesday I woke with a pain in the centre my chest. It didn't go away and I decided to go to A&E as it is impossible to know, in these cases, whether it is an heart attack or indigestion. I had all the tests and it wasn't my heart but probably bad indigestion caused by acid reflux. So in one week I have spent 17 hours in A&E all just in case!

TaggingAround: A Great Evening
http://taggingaround.blogspot.com/2014/01/a-great-evening.html
Bookbinder, Voice Coach, Musical Director, Granddad. Tuesday, 28 January 2014. Yesterday evening, MK Acapella was coached by Sally McLean. I first met Sally when she was singing with Downtown Express, at a BABS Northern Prelims, and they kindly agreed to sing on our show the following February. We decided it was about 1992 or 1993. Sally is now a full-time coach and she came for the first of three visits this year. I believe all the guys had a great time and she made a considerable difference to our sound.

TaggingAround: Back Again
http://taggingaround.blogspot.com/2014/01/back-again.html
Bookbinder, Voice Coach, Musical Director, Granddad. Wednesday, 22 January 2014. I've been avoiding the process of writing my blog because it is time consuming starting up my desk top and fiddly on my phone. I now have a tablet which is much more user friendly apart from not having any moving arrows when typing in so it is harder to go back to correct an error. Had to miss my exercise session to do so. Yesterday I audited the work I have in hand and I really will need to spend some time in the bindery!

Where the Blue of the Night and Old Kentucky are the two songs we are singing in Harogate for the BABS chorus competiton on Saturday 29th May. we are drawn second and go on stage at 10.52, so we will have an early start.

Bookbinder, Voice Coach, Musical Director, Granddad. Friday, 30 October 2009. 30 October 2009 Various Threads. I have a few minutes while I wait for a spine to set on a book I am binding, before rounding and backing, so I thought I would put up some news. Health - both mine and others. I have these about twice a year and they are quite frankly a bloody nuisance! Of the new men, one decided he preferred SATB, despite having a great time with us for three weeks. Perhaps he is looking for a wife! We are run...

TaggingAround: Sidings
http://taggingaround.blogspot.com/2014/01/sidings.html
Bookbinder, Voice Coach, Musical Director, Granddad. Thursday, 23 January 2014. I put the sidings on the Bible I am binding for a friend. A very nice blobby yellow and green marbled paper made by Louise Brockman. It will go nicely with the Japanese chirofugi paper I used for the end papers. It was great having a really clear space to work on. Things don't get lost so easily! I managed to mislay my steel rule a few weeks ago and found it tucked into the side of a box while I was clearing up!
