Pilates - a short history. Pose of the Month. Yoga Pose of the Month - Dandasana. This month's pose is Dandasana, also known as Staff or Stick posture. This posture stretches the hamstrings, strengthens the quadriceps and is the base posture for many of the forward extensions later used in the Ashtanga systems. Pull the sit bones back. This will bring the weight forward slightly. Roll the thighs inwards. Lift the chest and use the back to broaden it. Chin drops forward (Jalandhara bandha).
