1 - Mount Garfield. The Inconvenience of discipline. If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse.". A semi-ambitious hiking goal? What the hell was I thinking? You mean I have to actually climb the mountains to say I climbed them? Are you kidding me? In less than a couple of years? Who came up with those dumb rules? Oh, right. I did. I gotta wake up early? And drive three hours and hike with a big heavy pack and stuff? Sometimes in the snow or rain? I feel better too.

3 - Mount Hale. I've been thinking a lot about what makes a person great. The people I find myself looking up to most are the ones society would least expect you too. Those are the people who inspire and impress me. The selfless, generous, and simple folks in this life. The ones being comfortable with exactly who and where they are That's who I want to emulate. That's who I want to be. We even got to see a bit of beautiful snow flurries. My name is Matt Landry.

This blog is about a personal goal to climb the forty-eight, four thousand foot peaks of New Hampshire by the time I turn fifty years old, and maybe share what I see and learn along the way.

5 - North Kinsman. It's been too long since my last four thousand footer. As with many things, sometimes when you have all the time in the World, you simply put things to do off "until tomorrow". The problem with that is that there is always plenty of tomorrows, or so we think anyways. Funny how they all eventually catch up to you, and you run out of tomorrows. Are you challenging those around you to be the best people they can be? My name is Matt Landry.

9 - Mount Tecumseh. Buying a book on speaking Italian doesn't make you speak Italian, just because you own it. I think another common term for this is sometimes “spinning your wheels”. So it's nice to see actual forward progress, adding more names of completed peaks. My name is Matt Landry. This blog is about a personal goal to climb the forty-eight, four thousand foot peaks of New Hampshire by the time I turn fifty years old, and maybe share what I see and learn along the way.

6 - Mount Galehead. Ldquo;Do or do not do, there is no try” –. I’m an eventual piper payer…. I was blessed to have six months basically off to complete some goals, to get some things done. To hike some serious mountains. I really didn’t do much of any of those. Life is like that, always in a state of flux, and our bending to adjust to it sometimes isn't always a bad thing. My name is Matt Landry.

2 - Mount Zealand. Flags on the forty-eight is a wonderful memorial held every year to honor those we lost on September 11th. It involves lots of volunteers choosing to climb a specific mountain and erect a flag on all forty-eight - four thousand foot peaks. So far, all forty-eight peaks have been covered in the last ten years. It can be a moving experience and I've been blessed to be a part of it. Only 46 more to go. My name is Matt Landry.
