Complete coverage of the Angels minor leagues. August 7, 2011. 2001: A Draft Odyssey. Casey Kotchman played for his father Tom with the Provo Angels for about a week before spraining his wrist and missing the rest of the 2001 season. Baseball analysts recall the 2001 amateur draft as one of the deepest talent pools in recent history. The first two players chosen were Joe Mauer (Twins) and Mark Prior (Cubs). Mark Teixeira (Rangers) went #5 overall. Drafts are more art than science remember Colt Griffin?

Complete coverage of the Angels minor leagues. September 29, 2011. The Vehicle Assembly Building was used to stack the Saturn V moon rockets and the Space Shuttle. Every baseball career comes to an end. Most players, coaches, and other personnel leave involuntarily. They’re fired, released, traded or simply shown the door. A few have the privilege of choosing the time and place where they depart from the game. That’s a great and humbling responsibility, one I sought when I moved here. So it’s time ...

Complete coverage of the Angels minor leagues. Coast to Coast: Missing in Action. No, it’s not me in the suit. But I do lead tours in the Rocket Garden behind him. If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know (1) my wife and I moved to Florida almost two years ago, and (2) I’ve posted less and less in recent months. I’ve posted occasional updates about our Florida adventure. One major objective was to be hired as a Communicator at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Two positions were open, so...

Checkered flags and strikeouts. Small ball, long ball, it doesn't matter just as long as the Twinkies win. September 2, 2011. Its been a long year. Miss Optimistic | Because when you're cheering for this team….you have to be!
Because when you're cheering for this team….you have to be! June 22, 2009. Is This a Joke? But whatev. Ollie got RF because it’s the position where you stick the kid who’s not so good at softball/baseball. But seriously, Carlos Beltran’s trip to the DL means only one thing for me: the Mets are going to win the World Series this year. Think about it: the only reason this would happen is to set up an epic comeback resulting in a World Series win. This is the kind of stuff movies are based on. June 10, 2009.

The Empire
April 8, 2010. First series in the books…. Yankees take series 2-1. April 6, 2010. So here we go. One in the books and the season is underway. With all the off season moves the Yankees made, I was watching this game with a close eye of a few individuals. It’s never an easy thing to swallow when your team brags about their top prospect for a couple of years and them watching them trade him away. 8221; Don’t get me wrong, I like Granderson, he is a good player and a nice guy and like him in pinstripes.

Who's Your Friar? Covering all things San Diego Padres. November 24, 2011. Okay…enough already. Let’s set the lineup. Thanksgiving is officially over. It’s time to start talking baseball again. Well…maybe it’s a bit premature, but I’m sitting here with both kids asleep (magically and inexplicably) while the Mrs. is out scratching and clawing her way through the Black Friday crowds. Here’s what I’d like to see on the Opening Day lineup card:. Everth Cabrera, 2B. Chase Headley, 3B. Jesus Guzman, 1B*. 1 Guz...

SF Giants Kid | …written from the prospective of a lifelong fan and the spirit of a kid…
8230;written from the prospective of a lifelong fan and the spirit of a kid…. August 23, 2012. I was going to title this post as “Couldn’t Dodge a Giant Sweep”. But then again this series does not deserve such a dramatic title. What was important is how well the Giants are playing. For two reasons: 1. Giants needed to punch back after getting swept at home; 2. Giants need to be ready to play a tough series against the Braves. So what I want to say about the series:. August 19, 2012.
