Strangely Significant Moments: seeing other people
http://strangelysignificantmoments.blogspot.com/2008/05/seeing-other-people.html
I like to pretend that I write. Friday, May 23, 2008. LAX Sunset Airplane Landing. Originally uploaded by Flip Barrientos. I sit next to you in your blue Topaz. As we drive out past the airport. To a place where you say the airplanes. Slide up into the sky over head. Leaving the runway behind. Sitting on the hood we wait, surrounded. By the stars and the trees and. A light wind that tickles my arms. Instead of the planes that you promised. We watch an unlit field. Around 3am rain spots the windshield.

Strangely Significant Moments: Zen Kinda Day
http://strangelysignificantmoments.blogspot.com/2011/09/zen-kinda-day.html
I like to pretend that I write. Wednesday, September 28, 2011. And then came the farmers market! I feel truly blessed for these sometimes simple and sometimes unexpected gifts. I forget that every day is filled with them if I just remember to look. Namaste. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). One of my employees once said I was not really mean, just evil. I think I blushed from embarrassment. But then I realized she was probably just hoping for a bigger raise and I put my ego back in check.

A Raging Titter: Adnan Syed: Midnight Phone Call

Adnan Syed: Midnight Phone Call. His lawyer’s assertion that “no one who ever wore a tuxedo ever killed nobody” didn’t pan out for the Baltimore area youngster. The Raging Titter voicemail recorded this message from Serial character Adnan Syed. I didn’t bother to transcribe the “this is a call from” line. You already hear it in your head anyway. Maybe kill your dog. They was tasteful like boudoir photos with a nice matte finish. And they wasn’t even no porn! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Awesome In...

Strangely Significant Moments: And though the news was rather sad...
http://strangelysignificantmoments.blogspot.com/2008/08/and-though-news-was-rather-sad.html
I like to pretend that I write. Tuesday, August 12, 2008. And though the news was rather sad. The story of John Lennon’s death is widely known. Late on the evening of December 8th in 1980, John Lennon was returning to his residence at the Dakota in Manhattan’s upper west side, when he was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman. His death was a shock to the entire world. And although I was only five years old, I also remember this tragedy. How did he know the exotic woman next to him? Did he know John?

A Raging Titter: Daybreakers: Lit Theory: WTF

Daybreakers: Lit Theory: WTF. I know. I know. You watched this movie and you didn’t like it. But you couldn’t quite pin down why you didn’t like it. I can help. The narrative contains a subtext that is, simultaneously, unnerving and right on the money. The vampire effort is going full tilt boogie to come up with a blood substitute. The project is helmed by the guy who ruined Uma Thurman for the rest of us, Ethan Hawke. Ethan sort of sucks (HA! Ethan Hawke: Dad Of The Year. You think it could be oil?

7 Reasons To Watch John Carpenter's They Live. 1 It takes place in a dystopian near-future suffering from some flavor of economic devastation, so it may offer important insights for your retirement planning. 2 Some moments are genuinely funny without a hint of cynicism. This film can remind you what life was like before the hipster takeover of our culture. 3 It has an incredibly effective minimalist soundtrack. Sometimes less is just less Justin Bieber.
