In 2011, the National Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial was opened in Washington DC on the national mall. The address of the memorial, 1964 Independence Avenue pays homage to the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The memorial was created to honor the life and work of Dr. King for his dedication, sacrifices, and impact on the Civil Rights Movement.
