Futbol USA: August 2007
http://futbol-usa.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 12, 2007. Arsenal 2: Fulham 1 Analysis. Analysis is bulletized below- first an observation:. Every American soccer fan has had this experience: you're alone watching the television, and in a moment of high drama, your team scores a crucial goal. Usually, this sort of behavior is reserved for USMNT games, but those of us who have a favorite EPL team know the beauty and ridiculousness of this behavior when you have to set an alarm clock to watch the game. For most of the game, it felt like a...

Futbol USA: July 2007
http://futbol-usa.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 8, 2007. Due to spending vacation time with the family and out in the great outdoors, I didn't get to see most of the Copa America action and so I won't attempt to extensively blog commentary about something about which I can't actually provide original insight. Nonetheless, I've absorbed the various reports and highlights and real-time blogs and I think Jack Bell's piece. Did we insult our hosts? Maybe Does it matter? Not to me. It is time to move on.". Futbol USA: Agreeing and disagreeing with Ivan Gazidis
http://futbol-usa.blogspot.com/2007/11/agreeing-and-disagreeing-with-ivan.html
Wednesday, November 28, 2007. Agreeing and disagreeing with Ivan Gazidis. Part 1 - Agreement:. From Ivan Gazidis regarding the influx of South American talent being the story of MLS this year, rather than the league becoming Beckham League Soccer. I find this very encouraging. Throwing US monies at aging international stars? We've seen that story and know how it ends. Investing in a wealth of talent in Central and South America is cheaper and has a more fundamental impact on the quality of play. While he...

Futbol USA: US-South Africa Analysis: Good, Bad, Ugly
http://futbol-usa.blogspot.com/2007/11/us-south-africa-analysis-good-bad-ugly.html
Saturday, November 17, 2007. US-South Africa Analysis: Good, Bad, Ugly. Certainly it was a win on foreign soil, but this was a very poor effort from a young US side. Though they didn't get much possession or many opportunities in the first quarter of the game, the US players were patient and executed a good game plan against an athletic team at altitude. The goal was against the run of play but very well taken from a difficult angle, and the US played much better toward the end of the half. Sure he didn'...

Futbol USA: "To make democracy work, we must be a notion of participants, not simply observers."

Sunday, November 18, 2007. To make democracy work, we must be a notion of participants, not simply observers.". Quote by Louis L'Amour, surely foreseeing the grave and noble duty of voting the the 2007 Best of US Soccer Awards. My heretofore sporadic posting or just a general aptitude for assessing quality has led the Academy to overlook Futbol-USA, but there are a number of fine candidates available for the best US Soccer blog. Desert Crown: Opening Day Jitters
http://desertcrown.blogspot.com/2010/04/opening-day-jitters.html
Soccer as it relates to Utah. Tuesday, April 13, 2010. What a difference a goal makes. Before Saborio's header in the 94th minute I was ready to rant about poor finishing and wasted chances. But all of that frustration is gone with a great snap header. Add Will Johnson's fantastic diving header just after halftime and you have some feel good moments to counter balance the weight of two fatal defensive lapses. Posted by Scott @ 2:07 PM. I hope the ticket jam up doesnt affect future ticket sales.

Desert Crown: 2010 Outlook for Real Salt Lake
http://desertcrown.blogspot.com/2010/03/2010-outlook-for-real-salt-lake.html
Soccer as it relates to Utah. Saturday, March 27, 2010. 2010 Outlook for Real Salt Lake. With the signing of the collective bargaining agreement, and then after watching the Philadelphia Union and Seattle Sounders kick off the season on Wednesday night, I officially have Real Salt Lake on the brain. Most of the preseason conversation has revolved around whether the 2009 cup title was a one and down deal, and how the team will react to the departure of Yura Movsisyan. 2 Can wins be found on the road.

Desert Crown: August 2005
http://desertcrown.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Soccer as it relates to Utah. Friday, August 19, 2005. Written: 08 july 2005. This story is a little past due as far as relevance, but by the end I hope you'll see why I waited. Returning to the press box to write my post game story I had yet another person approach me and told me not to write about what happened in the locker room. I think their point was abundantly clear. But, how could I focus on anything else? Posted by Scott @ 4:43 PM. Do i even count as a blogger? Yeah, so i did that thing were you...

Desert Crown: January 2005
http://desertcrown.blogspot.com/2005_01_01_archive.html
Soccer as it relates to Utah. Wednesday, January 26, 2005. After the dust cleared from the Boom Scare another announcement came crawling through the grapevine. There really was a man. Who was willing to fork out $1 million to bring an MLS team to Salt Lake in 2005. Dave Checketts, who had already made a name for himself locally through his work with the Utah Jazz back in the early days of pro basketball in Salt Lake, now wanted to add another pro sports franchise to his hometown.
