A Day in Japan. Short stories about our lovely country. September 6, 2009. Settsu kyo is a small canyon in Osaka. It is nothing specutacular but if you live in Osaka and. Feel like going somewhere one afternoon just to get relaxed away from the city,. Settsu kyo is for you. It is located quite near to the residence area. It is quite nice to see the rice paddy and old houses alongside the canyon. You will find a lot of families are out there with lunch box in summer. It takes about 20 minutes.

It’s a japanese fruit called persimmon aka KAKI. All the leaves around this village turn red, yellow or brown at the this time of the year, a lot of people fled here to check out wonderfully colored leaves as well as these kaki in a magical process. A Day in Japan. Short stories about our lovely country. June 28, 2009. Hosenin Temple 宝泉院 Murui. Hosenin Temple is located in Ohara, Kyoto. This temple is famous for the 盤桓園(ban kan en gadern). Ban Kan means “hard to leave”. As the garden is too beautiful, people wish to stay there not to leave. When you come to this garden, do not walk around but take a seat. Use the colums and boards as a frame and look as if you are looking at the picture. Will make you hard to leave. The drop makes the echo inside.

A Day in Japan. Short stories about our lovely country. November 29, 2009. Today, I’d like to introduce a unique craft that I found today. Koma is Japanese spinning top. This koma is made by a craft factory “Sasahara” in Hokkaido, the big island in the North part of Japan. They make furnitures, dishes and cups other than koma using the local wood. These two pieces of koma that I got today is a set. Look at the photo below. Doesn’t it look like a couple sitting on the ground? It is “Hinaningyo”.
