This is a photograph that Terry Evans took that I think does a great job at showing many of the elements. Paths- The channels which the civilian moves upon. Many of us mapped out streets and maybe train lines that are significant to our city image. This could also include city walkways and alleys. This element is often very significant to most civilians. Thursday, February 17, 2011. Lewis Mumford is a historian and philosopher born in 1895 in Queens, NY. When he was 44 years old he created a film called "The City". A narrator's voice is heard, explaining the beauty of this "new" type of life. I would like to highlight some of things he says and offer my comments on them. Just watch us grow, the scales wont hold us soon.". I found this to be ironic due to increasing obesity in America. A little gossip, or a friendly hand is good for the complexion". This ...

Monday, February 21, 2011. Part 2 - Chapter 8: The Need for Mixed Primary Uses. S "Long Exposure" series. The Lower Manhattan Waterfront. Jacobs theorizes that if a district is calculated and specialized for one function will be unable to provide what is necessary if it is confined to that one function. This is due to the fact that the district will only be used during specific times and because of its lack of diversity, at all other times will be empty. Jacobs talks about the Central Business District (...

Saturday, February 5, 2011. While thinking about the flaneur I realized that what is most interesting about the flaneur is not the city they exhibit, but the flaneur themselves. It seems that Poe too found the flaneur themselves to be interesting. Who are the flaneurs what does their life consist of. I find myself asking this question about a lot of people i see on the street. wondering, "what do they do at night? Or "what does their apartment look like? Perhaps it is our natural inclination to be voyeur...

Dan Cities Blog: New York, Beside Itself

Sunday, April 17, 2011. New York, Beside Itself. There is very little documentation from Joan Jonas's Delay Delay. A performance done in 1972. There is one image, however, in particular that has captured the attention of Burton and has changed her view of Manhattan ever since. I think that what Burton is describing is that through Jonas's portrayal and use of Manhattan, Burton's view of the city is altered. The image that Jonas created is considered in experiencing the actual city. Tom Burr, Deep Purple.

All your DC, VA, MD sports. Opinionated and Dirty. 8220;Straight Cash Homie”. April 2, 2014. January 14, 2005. This was the date when Randy Moss famously mooned the Packer faithful at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin and subsequently was fined $10,000 by the NFL for his antics. Moss’s response to a reporter asking how he would pay the fine? Not only was Moss’s response remarkably direct and honest, it shed light into the the lucrative lifestyle many professional athletes enjoy. Good stuff Randy.

Who would have thought that, in order to draw an open door in correct perspective, it would be necessary to draw so many guidelines first:. To figure out the way the door opens, you have to draw an ellipse to describe the path the outside edge of the door swings. Before that, it’s necessary to draw an accurate square in perspective on the floor that contains the ellipse. And before. Luckily, geometry was the. December 27, 2010.
