http://vahlpiano.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
A View From The Bench. Sunday, June 28, 2009. My student Ruchika came in May with a request - to learn the national anthem of her country, India. At first only her mom could sing it and we had no music, so I began notating by hand and after many revisions came up with my own version on Sibelius. I think I can play this now from memory. I found. To a youtube video of her performance of the national anthem. Mom says the performance went great. Go Ruchika! Saturday, June 27, 2009. I've got to give credit f.

Piano Perspectives: INTRODUCING SONATINAS
http://vahlpiano.blogspot.com/2014/03/introducing-sonatinas.html
A View From The Bench. Tuesday, March 25, 2014. At MTNA Conferences, it’s sometimes hard to decide which session to attend, but not when Marvin Blickenstaff is speaking! His session today was a teaching demonstration on Introducing Sonatinas, and was well worth the time. I wished my fast fingers were a tiny bit faster, though, it was hard to keep up with typing all the great content he had on the screen! Through sonatinas, students learn about:. In themes and keys. Melody/accompaniment style and balance.

A View From The Bench. Thursday, October 29, 2009. New Composer Bucks Incentive. The change seems to be going over well, judging by how diligent students were last week. It's so great that students are sightreading new pieces and going ahead in assignments and really thinking through them correctly. The best thing I've noticed this week is those converts to practicing at least 5 days and some 7 days. Love the change and improvement in their lessons because of it! Tuesday, October 20, 2009.
