A blog on developing not just software. Mittwoch, 13. August 2014. Building Xtext Languages with Maven and Gradle. Languages should be built, tested and deployed continuously, just like any other piece of software. Users expect generators to run inside popular build tools and not just inside the IDE. In this post you will learn how to create a Maven. Build for your Xtext language and how to consume the resulting Maven artifacts from other projects, both Maven and Gradle. Is a target platform definition f...

A blog on developing not just software. Freitag, 24. Oktober 2014. Xtend - Perfect for Code generation. Before Xtend became a general purpose language, it was designed for building code generators and model-to-model transformations in the Xtext. Framework. And even though this is no longer Xtend's main focus, the related features are useful in other situations, too! Notice the different coloring in the whitespace above? To implement that in Java, you have to create a big if-else cascade to check the runt...

A blog on developing not just software. Freitag, 25. Januar 2013. Time traveling: When ORM reaches its limits. Relational databases are a proven technology. Reporting tools love tabular data, developers love their concurrency guarantees. But there are use cases where the relational model and ORM just hit the wall. I think that Event Sourcing.
