Give the Bird to the Rule of Thirds. June 7, 2010. Back when I was a newbie photographer I obsessed over the rule of thirds. Never would I compose an image with the main subject smack dab in the middle of the frame. Blasphemy! But here’s the thing: the rule of thirds is a guideline, a suggestion. It is not an absolute. When is the right time to give the rule of thirds the bird and create a centered composition? Take a look at the two images in this post. What do you think of the compositions? If so, why?

Just another WordPress.com site. It’s All About Snowflakes. December 10, 2015. What makes snowflakes so special? They are all one of a kind. If you don’t live up north, perhaps you have never felt the awe and joy of seeing these almost microscopic masterpieces up close. Sometimes when it’s super cold and the windshield freezes I can see them through the glass. I want to try and capture their beauty through my photography.
