四大社之一「Madou社」之地。1661年，鄭成功來台驅荷，所製輿圖記示麻豆為番社。 麻豆原為濱海地帶，麻荳港則為倒風內海東南方之汊港，據臺灣府誌記載:「倒風港分三叉，西南為麻荳港，南茅港尾港，北為鐵線橋港。」港水流經麻荳社社北迄於社頭的水堀頭，水堀頭即為碼頭所在，舟楫往來商業盛極一時。後因，天然環境的變異，麻荳港航道漸告淤塞。港灣浮覆後，或變成為窪地，或成為港塭，海岸線乃漸次西移，原本濱海之古麻荳社遂成為內陸地域。 麻豆物產有甘蔗、稻穀、甘藷、文旦柚等。 訂閱： 文章 (Atom).

平埔族四大社之一，即新港社（今新市）目加溜灣社（今 善化. 65289;，麻荳社（今 麻豆. 65289;，蕭瓏社（今佳里鎮），鄭成功治台後，撫慰蕃地，開墾力耕，從事開發，社會秩序遂告大定，自此漢民族即陸續來台，拓殖定居，創立學堂，發展教育，於是文化漸進，人口日增，地方逐漸繁榮，逐成為漢族之社會。清治時隸屬台南府諸羅縣，並曾為縣治所在，1920年改制為台南州北門郡佳里庄（命名佳里之始），1933年升格為佳里街，直至1945年，改稱為 台南縣. 訂閱： 張貼留言 (Atom).
