Billy the Bus's Blog. Friday, September 07, 2007. Billy visible on Microsoft Earth. Now, I always like it when Billy turns heads and gets noticed, but I never expected him to be visible from space. This is quite cool. On Microsoft Earth, Billy can be seen from three different angles. And in one of the shots the side-door is open, so I'm pretty sure I must be in the picture too! Billy the Bus's Blog. Friday, January 26, 2007. OK, time to geek it up big time now with this post. Just been reading this article from earlybay.com. About how the VW chassis numbers work. My chassis number is 2132081286. This means. 21 = my camper was originally a panel van. 3 = made in 1973. 2 = specifies second decade of production, i.e. it's '73 not '63. 081286 = my production line number. The main project I'm working on in Billy this spring is the cab - new seats, paint metal work, new visors, door panels, etc etc. I figure by partitioning the work between rear and front, I'll focus on one thing at a time! Billy the Bus's Blog. Saturday, April 21, 2007. Leisure battery and split charge relay. Way back when I got the new engine fitted, my garage told me they would have to strip out the secondary electrics (battery and split charge relay) that I had fitted a few years previously (they were pressure washing the engine bay, so it made sense) - they also told me it wasn't working, which was news to me. Billy the Bus's Blog. Sunday, February 04, 2007. Its quite easy to fit. The starter motor itself is nearer 60, and a bit trickier to fit. After a pair of Saturdays lying under the van trying various tricks (ranging from 'clean the contacts' to 'whack it with a hammer') I concluded a) it was. And for 110 (bosch part plus an hour or so's labour) they did it for me. They gave me the old one as well, so I can take it apart and learn about its gubbins :). If you drive after 6pm).
