Discovering Missouris Natural Resources. Monday, October 28, 2013. One of my favorite conservation areas to visit in Northwest Missouri is Bluff Woods. Located in southend St. Joseph off of 59 Highway it is nearly 2300 acres of pure outdoor exploration. Walking trails, woodland, grassland, old fields, and a small prairie. There is even an old cemetery there to explore should the urge strike you. Do you like trees? As well as other hardwood trees. Many types of fungus can also be found here. Many more...

This blog has been created for all who love watching birds. Please comment, add suggestions and post your favorite bird photos. Monday, December 28, 2009. Today I decided to get a picture of the red-bellied woodpeckers that have been visiting our feeders. They have been the most difficult to photograph. They seem to notice every movement inside our home. So I closed all the blinds with the exception of one small opening hoping to conceal myself. I did not get any pictures only this video. Ohio Department...

This blog has been created for all who love watching birds. Please comment, add suggestions and post your favorite bird photos. Tuesday, February 16, 2010. The bird house below was built by Laurie's grandpa George a few years ago. As you can see we have enough snow. Currently there is over 20 inches of the lovely white stuff on the ground. I have never seen this much snow at one time in Knox County although many old timers say it is just an old fashioned winter. Only the strong will survive this winter.

MObugs
Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Eastern bumblebees ( Bombus impatiens. Are one of the most common of all the approximately 50 species of bumblebees that live in North America. The genus name Bombus. Comes from the Greek word bombos which translates into "a buzzing sound". It is easy to see how they earned this name, as anyone can attest who has been around these large bees, their wings make a loud humming sound that would be hard to mistake for any other species of insect. Even though bumble bees are excellent...
