Carolyn's Cotton Corner: June 2010
http://carolynscottoncorner.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 28, 2010. Today, we had a couple of breakthroughs. David started working. We weren't expecting them to put him to work right after his physical. He's not making nearly as much as he did at the State, but this is still a very welcome development. The ethical climate seems far superior. James also learned today that he has a new job. Last week. There are a few luxuries from the garden which are hard to replicate with purchased produce. There were some political milestones, too. Some ironies.

Carolyn's Cotton Corner: May 2011
http://carolynscottoncorner.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 8, 2011. Mother's Day didn't seem to be Mother's Day Off. As one might expect, my Mother spent Mother's Day providing music. She plays the cello in a string trio, and they played at several church services today - "That Wonderful Mother of Mine" plus hymns. It's not in her nature to sit back and expect pampering on Mother's Day. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Just some passing thoughts on our lives, from an obscure corner of Central California. Education and Child Development.

http://oleablog.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
My rose tinted world. Thursday, April 19, 2012. It's been FOREVER since I have written on this blog, and honestly I don't think it will be around much longer. We just got the internet at our little beach cabin and that makes it easier, it's that I think I may start a different blog and put my free time (what's that? Into that. It will be about hair and how to love your hair at home.trying to come up with a good title. Anyway, I have no event to report, nothing humorous to say, just a basic 'hi!

Carolyn's Cotton Corner: Goodbye to Kodachrome
http://carolynscottoncorner.blogspot.com/2010/12/goodbye-to-kodachrome.html
Thursday, December 30, 2010. A nice history of Kodachrome, with thoughts about its place in our emotions, here. The story of Kodachrome is a romance itself, an odd intersection of the worlds of science and music. Dad, the professional, preferred Kodachrome over all other films for slides, because of its color saturation and archival quality. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Carolyn's Cotton Corner: Some interesting thoughts on Thanksgiving
http://carolynscottoncorner.blogspot.com/2009/11/some-interesting-thoughts-on.html
Thursday, November 26, 2009. Some interesting thoughts on Thanksgiving. From last year - Thanksgiving Proclamations and Thoughts. This year, an academic piece on the importance of keeping gratitude. At the center of Thanksgiving. We are so blessed in this country. Quotes from a beautiful piece below:. We can remind ourselves that for all our social discord we yet remain the longest enduring society of free men governing themselves without benefit of kings or dictators. Being so, we are the marvel and...

Carolyn's Cotton Corner: Auld Lang Syne
http://carolynscottoncorner.blogspot.com/2010/12/auld-lang-syne.html
Friday, December 31, 2010. Today's a day for looking back and forward. Elizabeth Scalia and Peggy Noonan. With some great thoughts on the song. Dougie MacLean with all the lyrics to the great old song here. It really is remarkable that this song has stuck with us through changes in culture and language. I think that's a good thing. Here's Guy Lombardo's instrumental. If you want to sing it yourself. Another interesting tradition. Hope everyone is looking forward to a bright New Year. Observations on educ...

Carolyn's Cotton Corner: February 2010
http://carolynscottoncorner.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 22, 2010. George Washington's Birthday, 2010. Well, I haven't posted here since New Year's Eve and it's George Washington's Birthday. We also had some beautiful sunny days in January, sort of like Southern California January days. Then more rain, and chillier weather, even a little fog. Worrisome during apricot and peach blossom time. But we need the water. At 92, though, she was ready to go home. She did not have an easy life. She had developed some difficult health problems. Where I sw...
