Mr Grumpy: The red hermit: remembering Ted Grant
http://fredgrumpy.blogspot.com/2006/09/red-hermit-remembering-ted-grant.html
One-time leftie Mr Grumpy has been noticing how young the policemen are these days, and how much crap there is in the Guardian. To give the modern world its due, though, not only can he read the Grauniad without paying for it (€2.80 for the international edition, they must be kidding), but, despite his shy and retiring nature, he now has the means to let off steam in public. Health and safety warning. Mr Grumpy can now be found posting at christianaidwatch.blogspot.com. Saturday, September 02, 2006.

NoMoraDiaspora: June 2011
http://nomoradiaspora.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Monday, 6 June 2011. I think the Daily Mash. Tends to do a rather good job with the news, but if you're not a fan, here's an excerpt from the latest spat between people who think cuts are bad and those who think they're good, which I particularly enjoyed. The people who signed the letter stressed it was a very important letter because they were not just people who did not like the cuts, they were economists. There's no par...

The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Monday, 2 May 2011. The Vatican gets it right! Still, amongst all the bluster we get this from the Vatican. But the Vatican warned that no Christian should celebrate the death of the al Qaeda leader. He said the Vatican hoped that the death of bin Laden “would not be an occasion for more hate, but for peace". But I hae ma doobts! What am I saying and why am I saying it? It's not just me though. If I indulge in some dis...

The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Friday, 24 December 2010. I've no doubt he'll be doing a considerable stint inside - whilst the News of the World won't even be printing an apology for the 'lies' that they printed in exaggerating Sheridan's antics. It's a funny old world right enough! Monday, 20 December 2010. Another 6 charges dropped. Friday, 17 December 2010. 1 down 1 to go. Friday, 10 December 2010. The American wheels of justice. It seems the anti-Am...

HERAKLITES: The theory of the second-best
http://heraklites.blogspot.com/2007/11/theory-of-second-best.html
Philosophy, Politics, Economics. The theory of the second-best. One of the few provable useful results in economics is the one about markets producing an optimal outcome. If all goods and services in an economy are traded via perfectly competitive free markets, the resulting outcome is efficient (i.e. Pareto-efficient), i.e. there is no other possible arrangement of available resources in which some would be better off and no one would be worse off. That is the case — i.e. it is better to d...This is som...

NoMoraDiaspora: March Misery Makes Maggie's Monster More Meaningful
http://nomoradiaspora.blogspot.com/2013/04/march-misery-makes-maggie-monster-more.html
The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Tuesday, 2 April 2013. March Misery Makes Maggies Monster More Meaningful. Back in November I convinced (perhaps even cajoled) 2 of my oldest friends into joining me in the Maggie's Monster Bike and Hike. An altogether excellent sounding adventure up the Great Glen. Were created to address. I hope you'll feel able to help me help those who definitely need a wee helping hand at a most horribly difficult time. Ofgem, Ofcom, ...

NoMoraDiaspora: Ofgem, Ofcom, Ofwat - So What?
http://nomoradiaspora.blogspot.com/2013/04/ofgem-ofcom-ofwat-so-what.html
The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Wednesday, 3 April 2013. Ofgem, Ofcom, Ofwat - So What? What happens to the fine money though? As they raise prices, our tax contribution also rises linearly - so no real reason for the government to object, but if the government do want to make a show of punishing the companies, they 'fine' them - which increases the government take, but does nothing to mitigate the flow of money from our wallets. Have I missed anything?

http://nomoradiaspora.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Friday, 27 December 2013. Here to see one another through. I attended a dinner with the magnificent Sandy Strang. We're here to see one another through, not see through one another". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Having lived overseas for 10 years I returned to Scotland, got married and started a family. I'm loving life in Scotland, but know that there are so many ways that we can improve and make better use of what we have.
