Modo is committed to finding ways to engage, and to inspire, the very widest cross section of the population. This has led to a wide range of work:. Community extravaganzas and events. Modo creates participatory projects ranging from a single group performing to their peers to hundreds of participants coming together to create a huge spectacular. Modo is a social circus company now based in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. Follow the links to find out more about who we are, who we work with and what we believe. Although Modo is possibly best known for its large scale celebrations of culture and community, Modo works on a variety of levels, and really it is often in the process that the real work is done. Why we do it. Circus is exciting, it requires teamwork and has within it clearly defined achievements. Through learning new skills, circus gives young people a real sense of achievement. As well as pride in their own accomplishments, it allows young people to perform to their community and to gain accreditation, skills and experiences. Participation encourages the development of good communication, self expression, group work and community engagement as well as improving physical health and well-being.

As many people will be aware, Thomas Chipperfield (the last person in Britain to perform with big cats in the circus) is keeping his big cats in a croft outside Fraserburgh. Recently "an evening with lions and tigers" was advertised, although the event has been postponed following objections from the police to its license. Modo are working in Partnership with Aberdeenshire Community Planning and Community Safety to provide positive activities for young folk across Peterhead. The activities include stilt walking, plate spinning and tight rope walking. They take place at Drummers Corner in Peterhead on Monday nights from 6pm - 8pm and at Eden Park on Friday nights between 6pm 8pm for anyone who would like to come along and have a go! Why we do it.
