I think the idea of having a 19 rack at home is every techs dream. This was also the case when I wanted to decomission my power hungry and space consuming server PCs and replace them with 19 servers, but it seems that when ever the frase 19 inch is added to any PC part the price just skyrockets. So we looked into it and discovered it used the same dimensions as the PC racks (Yes its obvious but I just never tought about it) and so began my adventures. Goals of the project:. RAID1 space for important data.

I got some questions about th HD rails I made so heres some pictures. I found some female pins that fit perfectly on the male HD connector. I have not got anymore info about the pins at this time, sorry! I placed the pins on four old harddrives, to get the spacing right, before soldering the wires onto them. Also before soldering I placed shrink flex between the plugs to insulate the bare wire. Lastly I added some hotmelt/hotglue for insulation and stability. Powered by ModZone.dk.

Heres some of my blue prints and measurements I used while making the rack. 20 mm chip board. Two 525 mm x 525 mm. Two 525 mm x 650 mm. This shows where to drill the holes for the aluminum rods in the back plate. TOP: Size of the hole for the 20x4 LCD. BOTTOM: This is the size and spacing of the holes for the switches and indicator lights. Placement of holes for:.
