What to do if you need an "expert" to help with identification. Before you eat any mushroom, be 100% sure of its identification. Should you need assistance, here is a list of some knowledgeable MOMS members who have offered to help identify fungi. You may call or email any of them with your questions or photos. They may even agree to meet you somewhere to take a look at your specimen. Choose from one of the following experts.

Is a culinary group of MOMS members who love to cook and eat. There are three to four dinners a year. Each dinner has a specially planned theme and menu where the group may explore various regions of the world, culinary époques, or whatever else sounds intriguing. Usually the group gathers in the home of a member, but we have used park shelters, working studios, and rentable venues that allow self-catering. If You Suspect a Poisoning. If you suspect that you have consumed a poisonous mushroom, contact a physician, or Missouri Poison Control Center. Once help has been secured, it is advisable to try to get the suspect mushrooms identified. MOMS provides a list of Emergency Identification Volunteers. Who are able to assist with identification in poisoning cases. It is best to get help if you are not familiar with mushroom identification. What You Can Do.
