http://derekandalissa.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Just the Two of Us. Saturday, November 17, 2012. A Long Weekend in Long Beach. We had a little oceanic getaway this week! We spent a few days at the beginning of the week in Long Beach, Washington and had such a great time! I know, I know.late fall/early winter is not exactly beach weather but we take what we can get around here. It was so relaxing and refreshing to have a weekend away with no agenda. Sooo nice! We stayed in a really neat hotel, very rustic in decor and eco-friendly. A great find! We sto...

Just the Two of Us: Why I Need Easter This Year
http://derekandalissa.blogspot.com/2014/04/why-i-need-easter-this-year.html
Just the Two of Us. Saturday, April 19, 2014. Why I Need Easter This Year. Easter is like the Superbowl for believers.and we win every single time. It's a BIG deal. And not just for one Sunday out of the year. The story of Easter is a big deal the other 364 days, too. I am so undeserving of such grace. But there's something about the Easter story that is more real to me this year than ever before. It is still so very present in my life today. I wonder if they found one of His robes and just held it up to...

Just the Two of Us: July 2012
http://derekandalissa.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Just the Two of Us. Tuesday, July 31, 2012. It's a feeling that no one is a fan of. And it's exactly how I felt when Dad's oncologist walked into the room on July 19th and told us that the chemo had lost its punch and there were tumors that were starting to grow again.ugh. And then he said to my Dad that it was really great how well he had tolerated the chemo over the last three and a half years because most people who come to him in the condition my Dad was in only live a year.wait, WHAT? Me, too.ugh.

Just the Two of Us. Friday, July 11, 2014. And away we go. Our hearts have been ready for a long time, and the physical preparations are just about done. Suitcases are (mostly) packed. :). I am Hepatitis A - Tyhpoid - Malaria vaccinated. Mosquito net, air mattress, battery powered fan (with LOTS of extra batteries) and loads of coloring books, stickers, play-doh, and other crafty things are ready to go! Side note: We received a FREE first class ticket upgrade for our entire flight to Haiti and back!

Just the Two of Us: Love in Every Language
http://derekandalissa.blogspot.com/2014/02/love-in-every-language.html
Just the Two of Us. Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Love in Every Language. There is such a helpless feeling that comes with watching someone you love lose someone they love. There really isn't anything you can do to take away the pain or bring that loved one back. It's heart-wrenching to be on either end. People are constantly asking "What can I do for you? Or saying "Just let me know if there's anything I can do." And it's hard to know how to answer that. My best advice: Love them. Smother them with it.

Just the Two of Us: September 2012
http://derekandalissa.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Just the Two of Us. Saturday, September 22, 2012. Girl time is just so refreshing. One of the things that completely blows me away when I think about it are the friendships God has blessed me with here in the Northwest. Seriously, I am surrounded by some of the most beautiful and amazing girls who love the Lord with all their hearts and it is just downright fun to do life with them. I don't deserve it. This particular weekend worked for all seven of our schedules! And so we went. Getting our craft on!

Just the Two of Us: January 2013
http://derekandalissa.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Just the Two of Us. Monday, January 7, 2013. Home for the Holidays! Even though I am 29 years old, Christmas just wouldn't be the same if I didn't get to spend it at home with our families. :) It's just so special to be with those you love the most during the holidays. This year, we said goodbye to Washington on Christmas Eve and were south bound! We pulled up at Derek's parents' house to find it all lit up - so fun! With Mrs. Joanna, Maw Maw Betty and Trev :). The Annual Taylor Family Christmas Photo.

Just the Two of Us. Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Walking Daddy Home: The Unexpected. For as long as my Daddy had cancer, I was always fearful of one thing:. The first one came November 14, 2008. It was from my Mom. Sweetie, your Daddy had a seizure at work. He's fine now, but we're at the hospital with him and they are running some tests.". The next one came on November 16. The next one, November 22. And just a few months after that. But thanks to God's mercies, that phone call never had to be made.

Just the Two of Us: Getting there...
http://derekandalissa.blogspot.com/2014/06/getting-there.html
Just the Two of Us. Friday, June 13, 2014. The absolute silence in the hallway is proof. School is officially out for summer! There are so many exciting things ahead for the Thomas' this summer! A week with my Mom in town. Preparing for a brand new third grade class next year. Beautiful pacific northwest exploring with my love. A mission trip to Haiti. Numerous beach/coffee/shopping/lunch dates with some of my favorite people. And the list goes on. But first I've got to get through this weekend. While I ...
