Jack Wiler's World: August 2009
http://jackwiler.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 26, 2009. One thing I hate about this blog is the early sixties. Stuff is mixed up in my head time wise and I don't have a way to anchor it to a year or a class. Things extend between years, pop up again and vanish. Boy Scouts, for instance, were part of my life at two very different occasions in the sixties. The same is true of APBA sports games. The competition was fierce although it seems the Yankees always won.just as they did in real life. Later we bought into old time team...My pa...

Jack Wiler's World: September 2008
http://jackwiler.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 20, 2008. Fall and Gateway Regional. This was an era where sports were the province of boys. The important sports were all boys; boys football, hardball, basketball, wrestling and track. Girls could do field hockey, girls basketball (note the "girls" in girls basketball), and softball. They might have had track but I doubt it. We were all jammed together in this school. Headed for the future and with no clue that everything we knew, everything our parents knew, would be t...Strang...

Jack Wiler's World: July 2009
http://jackwiler.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 12, 2009. The difference is that Charles was from Haddon Heights or Jericho and he was black and for a young man from Jericho to cross that trestle in the early sixties was far braver than any other little kid worrying about trains. So my congratulations to my brave friend and to all my friends who helped walk that line. Don't forget there is still a line. Watch each others back. Friday, July 10, 2009. Jack Wiler's World: October 2008
http://jackwiler.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 31, 2008. Miracle in South Philly. 160;The curse is over! 160;My brother Ted has not thrown himself in front of a train! 160;Now if the Eagles can keep it together. Tuesday, October 28, 2008. The 1964 Phillies (a cautionary tale). Connie Mack Stadium was in a ruined part of town. When we went to games my dad would dip into his pocket for a quarter for a neighborhood kid to “watch” our car. Basically extortion money. But to continue…in the summer of 1964 the Phillies were in first pl...

Jack Wiler's World: November 2008
http://jackwiler.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 09, 2008. I guess every kid in the US of A has played street football or some variant of it. We certainly played our share of games. A day like today would have been perfect. Mild weather, the trees nearly stripped of their leaves, nothing much to do on a Sunday afternoon. We played on S. Lincoln Ave and mostly in front of my house. The game was a passing game. Take ten steps down the sideline and cut across, Mick, you go long, then the snap and the count 1 M ississippi. From the Church ...

Jack Wiler's World: December 2008
http://jackwiler.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 24, 2008. Holly, Jolly, Christmas in 1964. Our Christmas ritual was to put up the lights outside on Thanksgiving weekend. This effort took about half a day and Mick and I “helped” our Dad. Our help was limited since we were inept but we were able to untangle the lights and hand my Dad various tools. We had a wrap around porch surrounded by bushes so the bushes and doors were ringed with lights. Finally it would be Christmas Eve! In the words of Tiny Tim, “God Bless Us, Everyone! So no...

Jack Wiler's World: The Trestle & The Pill Factory
http://jackwiler.blogspot.com/2009/07/trestle-pill-factory.html
Friday, July 10, 2009. The Trestle and The Pill Factory. We'd end up by the Mecholsky's and then back home. Another day of artificially induced terror and adventure. Four or six or eight teenagers lost in their own little world. Today is my lucky day :). Apple is giving review copies of iPad to 100 lucky person. Go to http:/ bit.ly/cmmVr7 and apply for it. When I originally left a comment I appear to have clicked the -Notify me when. There has to be a means you can remove me from that service? الواسعه وا...

I Am Prepared to Give Up at Any Time
http://ogblay.blogspot.com/2012/05/i-messaged-my-buddy-scott-when-i-got.html
I Am Prepared to Give Up at Any Time. A blog that cures cancer! Thursday, May 31, 2012. I messaged my buddy, Scott, when I got home:. Was an unpleasant doctor's visit! What did you have done? Did they rotate the tires or check the oil? I stared at his messages for a moment, trying to decide how to cleverly convert his car-maintenance quips into the analog of what was done to me during my check-up. It soon dawned on me that he had already done that. Oh uh I DID have the oil checked! She said this as thoug...

I Am Prepared to Give Up at Any Time. A blog that cures cancer! Monday, February 18, 2008. If you're reading this, it must mean that I'm dead. Spooooooky! Or maybe it just means that you found my blog. I suppose that's probably the most likely theory. You found my blog and clicked on the "Daughter, click here first!
