http://artlunchbox.blogspot.com/2013/05/east-coast-perfection-secret-spot-cape.html
Art, literature, and ideas that sustain. Sunday, May 19, 2013. East coast perfection: Secret spot, Cape Cod, MA. 1/2 mile walk through scrub pine and rose hips to a deserted beach. Wishing I had my board. The sandbars that form these glassy little slides are notoriously ephemeral. I think of the the Japanese Zen poets who developed a philosophical-aesthetic mode from the experience of fleeting perfect natural beauty. They called it Yugen. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Lunchbox: December 2010
http://artlunchbox.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Art, literature, and ideas that sustain. Sunday, December 19, 2010. I recently listened to an interview with Jonathan Safron Foer. Candid, entertaining, verging on brilliant- in which he said that he would not have become a writer if it were not for the inspiration of the visual artist Joseph Cornell. I can think of a few other creatives who seem to be benefitting from Cornell's influence, i.e. Damien Hirst and Wes Anderson. Monday, December 13, 2010. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Paper pixels. cloth. Hand-made, growing gifts have to be one of my favorites. In the city I have never had a 'real' garden. I SO look forward to the day I do! In the meantime cuttings that I can steal from my parents garden on the commune and then plant in pots are the next best thing. Here are some photos of the process – from garden cuttings to potting. These two pots of succulents (above) I gave as a gift to my birthday-mate Erene. And her husband Chris. On my dining room table. my dad painted. When t...

The Travel Startup Blog. Friday, November 30, 2007. Little update with big things to come. I know its been a couple of weeks since one of us posted, but don't think we've gone AWOL. Yes the travel for turkey day was good (mini vacations are always nice to keep us focused on what this is all about Travel, Travel, Travel), but we've been incognito not because of vacation but because we are burning the midnight oil on a big release. With wiki style travel guides. And community built restaurant reviews.
