RubiBlog: February 2008
http://rubidaph.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 28, 2008. A Week in the Snow. We spent a week in Breckenridge, CO visiting Jim's brother Chuck and his wife Cherie Lynn. The kids had never seen snow before and they were pretty darn excited about it. We managed to go dogsledding, snowman-building, hot-tubbing, snowboarding, fondue-tasting, ice skating, and so much more. It was so much fun! Wednesday, February 13, 2008. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Sunday, October 21, 2007. Pictures from pre-Halloween dress up, zuchini cake making, and train ride here. Gracie and I went on a field trip with her playgroup to Bates Nut farm two weeks ago - she loved the petting corral there and she took her first pony ride! All the pictures are here. Matthew and I went on his school field trip to the Pinery pumpkin patch last Friday. We went on a hayride and Matthew picked out his own pumpkin! How Does Your Garden Grow? Doesn't work, will someone let me know? Last ni...

We had a backyard birthday party for her as well (trying to make the most of backyard parties while the kids are still small and don't demand things like indoor roller rinks or a giant pizza-serving mouse! RubiBlog: Rock N' Roll!
http://rubidaph.blogspot.com/2008/06/rock-n-roll.html
Sunday, June 1, 2008. Run, Jim, Run! The long-awaited Rock N' Roll Marathon was today and Jim finished in 4 hours and 13 minutes. My friend Cheryl hopped in and ran with him for the last 5 miles or so, and I guess that was a real lifesaver. We are all so proud of him. As Matthew wrote on a sign for his dad, "Go, Dad, go! Beet all the others! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Life and Times of Jim, Daphne, Matthew and Grace. View my complete profile. If you would be a wise parent.

Bombadil's Brother: The Hesco Garden Dyeth
http://bombadils-brother.blogspot.com/2009/06/hesco-garden-dyeth.html
Kent's second calling to the Middle East. Tuesday, June 09, 2009. The Hesco Garden Dyeth. Everything I planted has died. Too much heat and poor drainage in my starter pots, I'm guessing. They were doing so well for a while there. Other things that have died recently:. 1) My youthful idealism. 2) Any hopes I had of coming home from Iraq early. 3) Plans for an early retirement. 4) Dreams of rockstardom. Hey lets get back to work on #4 after #2 clears up. With that will come #1 and possibly #3. Blogs From t...

Bombadil's Brother: February 2009
http://bombadils-brother.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Kent's second calling to the Middle East. Thursday, February 26, 2009. Babagurgur and the Turkomen. Welcome to Kirkuk, Iraq's melting pot! Several ethnic varieties call Kirkuk home, including Arabs, Kurds, Assyrian Christians, and Turkomen (remnants of the Turkish Empire). These spouts of natural gas are not unlike the Earth farting. And those farts have been lit for 5000 years! Lahib (aka "Larry") is one of the Chaldean Christians, remnants of the earliest Mesopotamian tribes who converted to Christiani...

Bombadil's Brother: Scamalicious
http://bombadils-brother.blogspot.com/2009/06/scamalicious.html
Kent's second calling to the Middle East. Thursday, June 11, 2009. There are several scams going on in Iraq, which waste billions in US taxpayer dollars. Not many people appear to be aware of them, so I will list them here, in no particular order. Many of the services on Army bases (laundry, water sanitation, electrical power) are provided by American civilians, working for one of several contracting companies. KBR is the biggest company. Kellog, Brown, and Root is a subdivision of Halliburton. During a ...

Bombadil's Brother: September 2008
http://bombadils-brother.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Kent's second calling to the Middle East. Monday, September 22, 2008. Our pre-Iraq training has moved to the next phase: "FOB Victory". The First Army headquarters at Ft. Dix has constructed a full-sized "Forward Operating Base", or "FOB", out in the forests of New Jersey. This FOB is supposed to resemble in every way an actual US Army base in Iraq or Afghanistan: trailer showers, port-a-johns, concertina wire, defensive perimeter, tent barracks, bomb shelters, guard towers, etc. They took my Dude! As pr...
