Saturday, September 8, 2012. Eleven years ago my husband and I moved into our little townhome with a 2-day-old daughter. We were coming from a tiny student apartment so our 1,300 square feet felt like 3,000. I mean, what on earth were we going to do with 3 bedrooms! So we decided to bite the bullet and put our home on the market. What did we have to lose? Unbelievably, it sold in two weeks! You have no idea how long I've been waiting to say that! Monday, November 24, 2014. Chickens and more chickens. In the past when one of our hens began acting broody (wanting to sit on some eggs), we've discouraged it, threw her out of the coop during the day, and collected whatever eggs she had been sitting on. This may seem harsh but since we had no rooster to fertilize the eggs, we were actually doing our misguided hens a favor. Within the next 24 hours, three more hatched and she is now the proud mommy of six. Ozzie with her babies. Angie Christensen, RDN.

Friday, October 5, 2012. The day I've been dreaming about and dreading for years. Our house looks like it's been hit by a cardboard tornado, but the worst is over. Tomorrow we pack up the rest of our meager belongings in a truck and say goodby to Humboldt Drive for good. Once I'm fully dehydrated, I'll wipe my eyes and decide that I'm done grieving over the life I've left behind and look forward to the future with optimism, knowing that it will all be worth it in the end.
