DAD-WHIT: March 2005
http://dad-whit.blogspot.com/2005_03_01_archive.html
I don't really see the stories of my life as being very interesting, but I'll write 'em down anyway, just in case you do. Sunday, March 27, 2005. The Writing On The Wall. While repairing a commode, I noticed the following written in the mortar seam of the concrete blocks. Today Jesus is your Savior. Tomorrow He may be your Judge. Since I am a Christian, and there had been no complaints, I decided to ignore it. A few days later I came back to check my work and someone had written an addition. In the same ...

DAD-WHIT: February 2006

I don't really see the stories of my life as being very interesting, but I'll write 'em down anyway, just in case you do. Tuesday, February 21, 2006. The day before the actual taping of the show, Kim and Jerry Pace, Vicki and I taped a short segment of thoughts for a long and happy marriage. Not a difficult assignment, right? Of course the "big number" for the day was when Alecia and Jerrod came out to be the stars. And stars they were! I am so proud of them. They were superb! I am a Christian man who ha...

DAD-WHIT: April 2005
http://dad-whit.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html
I don't really see the stories of my life as being very interesting, but I'll write 'em down anyway, just in case you do. Friday, April 15, 2005. Memory- bits and pieces. Every now and then I start to remember days gone by and the exciting and fun things I got to do just for being a Dad. I chuckle to myself and think "That would make a great blog" and then it leaves me as fast ice on a hot August day. I still remember bits and pieces but somehow they just don't always go together. Probably 3rd shift and ...

Freedom is that instant between when someone tells you to do something and when you decide how to respond. -Dr. Jeffrey Borenstein. Monday, February 12, 2007. A few weeks ago, a friend of mine asked me what I thought was exceptional. Tonight I went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few odds and ends that I needed for my room. I get to the cash register only to find that I do not have my credit card and therefore, no way to pay for my items. I start to leave, thoroughly irritated and embarrassed. I see Adam Brown.

Freedom is that instant between when someone tells you to do something and when you decide how to respond. -Dr. Jeffrey Borenstein. Tuesday, October 25, 2005. I used to love fire drills in elementary school. I can still remember the adrenaline that rushed through my veins when I heard the siren, the excitement of seeing that flashing little fire box, and, of course, the excuse of getting out of class to go outside. Now, fast-forward about ten years to present day. Posted by Bobbie Jo @ 11:04 AM.

and to think it all started on roller skates...: My Book is Here, for realz
http://awhit.blogspot.com/2011/12/my-book-is-here-for-realz.html
And to think it all started on roller skates. Friday, December 16, 2011. My Book is Here, for realz. There have been a load of fun moments in this 2 year process of publishing a novel. I've learned a lot along the way, never knowing what to expect next until I got an email or phone call from my publisher or agent. (Actually landing an agent and editor were HUGE moments in and of themselves.). And the best part is that you'll be able to get your very own copy soon! If you haven't ordered your copy yet, yo...

And to think it all started on roller skates. Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Twitter Tuesdays - Michael "Pun King" Northrop. For the folks reading this blog who know me personally and/or spent much time around my dad, you know that we Whitakers aren't afraid of a good pun or a corny joke. You know that with conversation, as well as movies or television, the cheesier the better. And you know that the show Leave It To Beaver was a dead-on foreshadowing of my actual childhood.
