Having converted to Islam way back in the '80's, I've had time to think about it. A Sober Second Look. But I’m a convert, and my experience is nothing like this! Recovering from religious patriarchy. Recovering from religious patriarchy. As converts to Islam in the early ’80’s, we were usually given to understand (both by conservative Muslims, as well as by the wider non-Muslim society) that the teachings on gender, family and sexuality that we received were uniquely Muslim. Teaching that God has command...

Aasiya's Homeschool: January 2014
http://aasiyashomeschool.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 9, 2014. Sometimes I worry that my kids are becoming spoiled with all this hotel-ing. Mashallah they've been to more hotels in the last couple years than I had been to before I turned 20! I have seen glimpses of spoiled kids here n there. like when they claim they dont need to clean up because the cleaning ladies will. But I have also seen the benefits of traveling with them. like when Yusuf gave his candy to the waiter at the restaurant. Its all about balance, right? Be A Fun Mum.

Aasiya's Homeschool: Family Virtue Club
http://aasiyashomeschool.blogspot.com/2015/05/family-virtue-club.html
Tuesday, May 5, 2015. We started a Family Virtue Club. A friend of mine recommended this book and Im really enjoying it. We had our first club meeting. Which included the following:. The virtue discussed was Caring. We sat in a circle and lit a candle to remind us to be calm and listen to each other. We read from the book about what is caring. We listened to Dawud Warnsby nasheed, 'Dont talk to me about Muhammad' and discussed how Muhammad SAW was very caring to everyone he ever met. Such a great idea!
