Encouragement for Moms: Book Review: The Little Paris Bookshop
http://mommyjennie.blogspot.com/2015/07/book-review-little-paris-bookshop.html
A little bit of art, books, mothering and homeschooling to spur you on. Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Book Review: The Little Paris Bookshop. The Little Paris Bookshop: A Novel. By Nina George is a book about books. Have I mentioned that I generally LOVE books about books? Like The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry: A Novel. And The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. And Miss Buncle's Book. And The Reading Promise: My Father and the Books We Shared. I love books about books. Receive Posts via Email. An In...
Encouragement for Moms: Twelve Challenges- Moving Intentionally from Childhood to Adulthood
http://mommyjennie.blogspot.com/2015/06/twelve-challenges-moving-intentionally.html
A little bit of art, books, mothering and homeschooling to spur you on. Monday, June 22, 2015. Twelve Challenges- Moving Intentionally from Childhood to Adulthood. As my children have grown, I have tried to be intentional with each phase that they pass through. Challenging them to stretch and grow, learn new things, and to accept responsibility. The season of the teen years is one that intimidates me. Will my children still love God? Will they love their dad and me? Our eldest son turned twelve this year...
Encouragement for Moms: Book Review: Better Than Before
http://mommyjennie.blogspot.com/2015/06/book-review-better-than-before.html
A little bit of art, books, mothering and homeschooling to spur you on. Monday, June 22, 2015. Book Review: Better Than Before. Better Than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Everyday Lives. Was a complete surprise. I expected it to be a memoir of the author's experiences changing her own habits with some "helpful hints" thrown in. While that is an accurate assessment in some ways, it is incomplete. Is a fantastic (maybe fanatical? I need external accountability to help me drop my nets. Wild Things: The...
Encouragement for Moms: Book Review: A Warrior's Faith
http://mommyjennie.blogspot.com/2015/07/book-review-warriors-faith.html
A little bit of art, books, mothering and homeschooling to spur you on. Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Book Review: A Warrior's Faith. A Warrior's Faith: Navy SEAL Ryan Job, a Life-Changing Firefight, and the Belief That Transformed His Life. Is a front-lines view of one man's experience in the Navy SEALs and what happens after tragedy strikes. Unfortunately, the writing is a bit. maybe too much like a newspaper story and less like a full-length book. It feels a bit superficial and forced in places. ...The Red K...

The Skains Family: Lynlee's 10th Month
http://skainsfamily.blogspot.com/2015/08/lynlees-10th-month.html
Thursday, August 6, 2015. Sigh my baby girl is now only weeks away from that first birthday. I can hardly believe how fast this year flew by. I wouldn't trade a moment and I feel so very blessed and honored that God entrusted us with another sweet baby. I love having a baby and I love all those sweet snuggles that she still gives me. She is a sweet heart for sure, but this tenth month has most definitely brought out her feisty side! That will doesn't stay innocent for long! She loves to mimic! Pretty muc...
The Skains Family: March 2015
http://skainsfamily.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2015. A Little of This and a Little of That. We had some fun visitors a few weekends ago. Jeff's brother and his family came for a few days and we of course had such a great visit. A couple of weeks ago, all 5 were looking extra specially cute, plus I have very few pictures these days of all of our kiddos. This girl. what can I say. She still makes me laugh all the time! This girl loves her Daddy! That made his heart melt. She has been getting extra brave with Lynlee lately. Just p...
The Skains Family: April 2015
http://skainsfamily.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 30, 2015. This picture of my boy.what can I say. Well, it really makes me laugh. Let me set the scene for you. If you live in Texas, then you are familiar with your car being coated in yellow pollen for about a week every year in the spring. And I mean, a thick coat of yellow pollen! This was not his first car wash. He had been a few times before and never had an issue but, my goodness, he was not happy about this one! Great mothering. I know. Poor little guy was just genuinely scared.
The Skains Family: January 2015

Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Month 3 with Lynlee has been just as sweet as the first two. She is just a few days away from turning 4 months already, but I still need to document all that happened in her 3rd month of life. She had a great first Christmas and was a trooper through it all. The Skains Family: July 2014
http://skainsfamily.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 17, 2014. Happy 4th of July. Our afternoon was pretty uneventful. Everyone napped so they could all handle staying up really late for fireworks. Our church had a tailgating party in the Kingwood high school parking lot to watch the fireworks. It was a fun evening although most of it was spend chasing Landon before he ran into the parking lot over and over again. Apparently it was way too bright for them! And this is all we got of all 4 of them that day. Sad sad. Posted by The Skains Family.
The Skains Family: A Very Great Daddy
http://skainsfamily.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-very-great-daddy.html
Wednesday, July 1, 2015. A Very Great Daddy. A few weeks ago my very brave and adventurous husband took our three big girls on their very first camping trip. They are still talking about it! It was a great memory I know they will remember forever. The moment that they arrived home they were already planning and talking about the next time. Jeff really hit it out of the park when he did this for the girls. I was so proud of him! Not to mention, I had a great break with just the two little ones! Oh this ba...
The Skains Family: My Sweet 9 Month Old
http://skainsfamily.blogspot.com/2015/07/my-sweet-9-month-old.html
Wednesday, July 8, 2015. My Sweet 9 Month Old. Little Lynlee Noelle is well on her way to that one year mark! She loves to be free and have the ability to go where ever she pleases. She still likes her jumperoo okay, but definitely prefers to roam. Just two weeks ago I found her pulling up to standing on her own. Now her favorite thing to do! She loves pulling up in her crib and by the windows. It's too cute! This was her first time to stand up by the window. She was so excited! Daddy letting her have a ...
The Skains Family: One of those moments...
http://skainsfamily.blogspot.com/2015/07/i-know-that-i-am-not-only-mom-out-there.html
Monday, July 27, 2015. One of those moments. I know that I am not the only mom out there who truly looks forward to Saturdays! A day when I'm not alone in my parenting all day, another adult to talk to and just to be a complete family. When Friday's come around it's like a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm almost there! Any other momma out there feel this way? I honestly feel like I need at least a weeks notice to brace myself. Anyone, anyone? We decided that we were going to go swimming at our friends...
The Skains Family: October 2014
http://skainsfamily.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 24, 2014. I can't believe it's already been one month since our beautiful girl arrived. Although we are actually getting close to two months now, so I thought I better hurry and post her one month. Lynlee is just as sweet as can be, and such a great baby. Really, she is! She has her moments of fussyness, where she just wants to be held, which usually happen when I'm cooking dinner. But for the most part she is just a happy girl. And now for picture over load of our cute Lynlee! One week af...
The Skains Family: 4th of July
http://skainsfamily.blogspot.com/2015/08/4th-of-july.html
Sunday, August 2, 2015. We had quite an exciting 4th of July this year! It was crazy busy, and crazy overwhelming, but ended up being one incredibly great experience for myself and my family. The week of the 4th ended up being probably one of the most chaotic weeks to date. Jeff had 8 different real estate transactions happen in ONE WEEK! As a father has compassion on his children, so that Lord has compassion on his faithful followers; for he knows what we are made of; he realizes we are made of clay".
