Accentuating the Positive: Us + Peanut Butter = Not MFEO on this camping trip
http://glassishalf-full.blogspot.com/2013/03/us-peanut-butter-not-mfeo-on-this.html
Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Us Peanut Butter = Not MFEO on this camping trip. Whoa, I'm getting a little wild here, posting more than once a month. We went camping. Look how pretty it was. I forgot the peanut butter! At least it wasn't the toothbrushes, right? It was worth it because we were going to get our beloved pbjs. They like nuts. Racoon? But it was in the day. ROUSes? Speaking of wild animals, we had some monkeys. (I especially like Yoshi who is also hanging from the tree branch). And everybody wade...

Childhood Strikes Again: October 2007
http://me-the-dad.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Not to be outdone, or maybe undone, or perhaps well-done - yah, that's it - this California bred Scottish German Texan joins the wonderful extended family in the blog world. Friday, October 26, 2007. There is no ocean in Fort Worth Texas. So, leaving the discussion of the great weekend that was had by all in my family to be described by my more glib and jabber-jawed children, I proceed with just a modicum of family history this time. This is the painting I did in 1989. Sunday, October 14, 2007. By my Ger...

Childhood Strikes Again: January 2009
http://me-the-dad.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Not to be outdone, or maybe undone, or perhaps well-done - yah, that's it - this California bred Scottish German Texan joins the wonderful extended family in the blog world. Tuesday, January 27, 2009. General Douglas MacArthur said he would, but I actually have returned. One not pictured here that I did was an old style ladder with dowel rungs I made for The Miracle Worker. The 11-foot tall 7/8 scale guillotine was made for The Scarlet Pimpernel. And an old-style lobster trap, made for set dressing for t...

Accentuating the Positive: Weekend in Dallas!
http://glassishalf-full.blogspot.com/2014/01/weekend-in-dallas.html
Sunday, January 12, 2014. We went to DFW this weekend and it was super fun. Its purpose was two fold: One of which was that dad wanted to make some cookies with Uncle Chris. The other was to see David play the lead role in Buddy Holly. So they spent the morning grinding the hazelnuts and bustling around in the kitchen, these two grown men, these two brothers, trying to recreate something from their childhood. They were so excited and it just warmed my heart to see them trying to pass on this tradition.

Accentuating the Positive: Just a spoonful of sugar
http://glassishalf-full.blogspot.com/2014/01/just-spoonful-of-sugar.html
Sunday, January 05, 2014. Just a spoonful of sugar. I'm sure I'll never live that down. That was the only unsweetened part of the whole vacation though. The rest was filled with trips to the movie theater, golf course and paintball range for the boys, trips the the American Girl store and shopping for girls, and lots of hanging out. And food, lots of food that was cooked correctly. Eh, who needs sugar in pie anyway? Pie is pie, and pie is good. Goo, thats me, not Haley. Emily, not Haley.

Accentuating the Positive: Reaching for God
http://glassishalf-full.blogspot.com/2014/10/reaching-for-god.html
Thursday, October 30, 2014. Seven years ago today, I lost a child. Seven years ago, my doctor looked at the ultrasound, and then me and said, "there's her heart, and it's not beating," and I knew my life would never be the same. Seven years ago, I was induced into labor to deliver a baby, my baby, that would never even take her first breath. I was never mad at God. I did not believe God was to blame for my baby's premature death. Could He have prevented it? I am still finding Him. Seven years ago today, ...

Accentuating the Positive: There is a Bird in My House!
http://glassishalf-full.blogspot.com/2013/03/there-is-bird-in-my-house.html
Sunday, March 03, 2013. There is a Bird in My House! Andrew is a budding reader and one of the stories we like to read is a funny one called "There is a Bird on Your Head! Chronicling an elephant who finds there is a bird on his head. The bird makes a nest, gets married, and hatches three baby birds, all on the poor unsuspecting elephant's head. We laugh at this story because all throughout, the elephant is shocked and makes statements like, "THERE IS A BIRD ON MY HEAD? It goes like this. Is the best app...

Accentuating the Positive: Just in case you wondered...
http://glassishalf-full.blogspot.com/2013/01/just-in-case-you-wondered.html
Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Just in case you wondered. Maybe I should have known she would like apple pie on account of the fact that she was born the day before the 4th of July. And she's a golden retriever: the iconic, #1 dog breed in the country. The only thing more. American than a golden retriever and apple pie is a golden retriever eating. Hahahahah. I really need to meet Winnie and give her a hug. So American. Hahaha. Did she do this on inauguration day? Lol, glad youre back! The Glass is Half Full.

Accentuating the Positive: Time Warp
http://glassishalf-full.blogspot.com/2012/07/time-warp.html
Monday, July 30, 2012. Go back in time with me for a bit:. April 19, 2012. Andrew had a gymnastics skills exhibition. He's a good little gymnast (with a dorky, unnatural little smile in this picture.). Beam is undoubtedly his nemesis. But I find the intense look of concentration on his face very endearing. Also, you can't tell, but the beam is only about 6 inches off the ground. This does not matter to Andrew: it might as well be 60 feet. Remember how we went to Hawaii and that counted as our holidays?
