27 rue Saint-Guillaume: May 2009
http://allison-nichols.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 30, 2009. A perfect day, redux. I meandered back across the river to my neck of the woods, picked up cookie-baking supplies at the grocery store (this was slightly complicated by the fact that in addition to peanut butter and chocolate chips, apparently the French are not wild about brown sugar), and treated myself to a pita with falafel from the shop on the corner. Wednesday, May 27, 2009. End of the year rush, à la française. Sunday 5/17: I was invited to dinner at a friend's house, so I ...

27 rue Saint-Guillaume: Meknes and Marrakech
http://allison-nichols.blogspot.com/2009/07/meknes-and-marrakech.html
Tuesday, July 21, 2009. It's the final stretch! I am back on campus after our last field trips/site visits last week, and now there are only 4 days, 2 finals, 1 night in Paris, and one transatlantic flight standing between me and HOME. But before I write any more about that, here's a quick summary of the past week's travels:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Volubilis, Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, and the Tafilalt. 27 rue Saint-Guillaume: Fez and Zaouia Sidi Abd Assalam

Tuesday, July 7, 2009. Fez and Zaouia Sidi Abd Assalam. Will she make it to high school? Will she have a career someday? I think about how warm and generous my host family was to the two American girls who descended upon them, unable to speak their language and offering little in return. Do I have that same capacity for genuine kindness? It is amazing to me how people who have so little can give so much. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 27 rue Saint-Guillaume: February 2009
http://allison-nichols.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 28, 2009. Addendum to the previous entry. Today is an absolutely beautiful, practically spring-like day in Paris. I'm meeting up with one of my friends from orientation this afternoon, and we're going to take a self-guided walking tour of the 9th arrondissement. I have no idea what is in the 9th, but I will let you all know once I find out! Friday, February 27, 2009. What if something horrible were to happen, and I couldn't be there? This is clearly not focusing on the positive. Sh...

Friday, August 14, 2009. Au revoir, Paris. Sorry for the delay in part 2 of my "wrap-up" series. I've been very busy doing a whole lot of nothing for most of the past two weeks, then very busy doing a whole lot of everything for the past several days. Since I'm heading back to school tomorrow morning, I figured I should probably buckle down and finish this. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Au revoir, Paris. View my complete profile. 27 rue Saint-Guillaume: Voter abstention and DayQuil: finals week at Sciences Po
http://allison-nichols.blogspot.com/2009/06/voter-abstention-and-dayquil-finals.html
Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Voter abstention and DayQuil: finals week at Sciences Po. Just thought I'd mention I survived my exams.and I'm pretty sure I passed. This afternoon, I had the exam for my class on the European Union. Brain was still foggy. This time, I had to write on 3 topics in 3 hours. I've stopped wondering about the imbalance here. My topics were: "Le Traite de Lisbonne va-t-il resoudre les problemes de l'Union europeenne? Will the Lisbon Treaty solve the EU's problems? Afterward, I'm plann...

http://allison-nichols.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 30, 2009. Back to Paris and RM's visit. Unfortunately, I had little time to relax and enjoy being home. I spent just about every waking minute of last week preparing for "les galops", a.k.a. midterms a la Sciences Po. Warning: the next paragraph contains a linguistic digression that I find. But most normal people will probably find less so. However, when we stepped off the metro and into the square under the Tower.there was no one there. And that is how it came to pass that finall...RM le...

27 rue Saint-Guillaume: January 2009
http://allison-nichols.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 22, 2009. Two more weeks of preparations. People keep asking me how my preparations for Paris are going. I don't have a very exciting answer to offer. Most of the really important arrangements (travel plans, host family, course assignments) have been in place for several weeks, and it's still too soon for me to begin packing. However, I do have a couple of updates to share:. 1 Last weekend, I found out that I was accepted to the Georgetown summer program in Ifrane, Morocco! 2 Along thos...
