Where the action is. One last time – McCall’s 5137 →. September 23, 2006 · 10:47 am. Tutorial: Convertible Collar with Yoke. A few days ago I was asked to republish the convertible collar tutorial that I had on my now-defunct GigiSews.com site – here it is! Should be 1/4″ – always, IMO. With the exception of the collar, do not press anything until the end. Construct the collar. I always put a large X with chalk on the undercollar so as not to mix them up. Attach the inner yoke/front facing unit to the sh...

Tuesday, July 04, 2006. 30's Flare for the 21st Century. I really love this blouse from HotPatterns (it's the Miss Moneypenny Pussycat Blouse) - it has just the right amount of soft, feminie style without being really gooey. I finshed it up today, and it's part of a Fall 2006 wardrobe. This is an idea I learned from Diva Georgene, and it's a great way to really maximise your sewing effforts. So far I've completed the long black skirt. Posted by Phyllis @ 5:36 PM. Links to this post. A Dress A Day.

THE SEWING DIVAS sewing, design, fashion. July 20, 2008. Filed under: couture sewing. 8212; georgene @ 5:25 am. This photo from last year’s New York Times slide show. Of the Christian LaCroix workrooms is inspiring. A simple wooden table, a portable machine underneath, a stool. What more could you want? Check out Ikea’s version, the Artur. Now to me, the width of the table top in this photo is not nearly wide enough…and I am not sure I want a glass tabletop. You can use a different tabletop wit...Is clos...

New Look 6454 – The Couture Version, Part I →. April 4, 2011 · 9:13 am. Eight days of wonderful. Of course, the week leading up to the eight wonderful days was filled with stress and buckets of tears as I said my final goodbyes to my sweet little Winnie. I can’t believe how quiet the house is without her; that will take a lot of time to get used to. Sat right in front of me. Another week and we would have been finishing each others’ sentences! Supermom Anna made a strapless silk charmeuse evening gown fo...

Eight days of wonderful. New Look 6454, The Couture Version – Part II →. April 5, 2011 · 8:21 am. New Look 6454 – The Couture Version, Part I. I decided to make a very fitted strapless dress in Couture Boot Camp because a) that’s a tough thing to fit on yourself and b) I’d never done it before! I selected New Look 6454 as my starting point because I liked the shape of the bodice. After the final muslin fitting, I traced my muslin pattern onto a muslin underlining, again marking the seamlines/grainlines (...

Need I say more? And Emmit, to his credit, won this thing because he used his NFL training to full advantage - not only did he win the World's Ugliest Trophy, but now he gets to call up Jerry Rice tomorrow morning and say "Pay UP, Brother! I didn't think it was possible to for any trophy to be uglier than the Stanley Cup.

THE SEWING DIVAS sewing, design, fashion. April 19, 2007. Adding bra cups to a halter top or dress. 8212; Gigi @ 5:13 pm. First, I want to point out that I am working with a knit – a beautiful rayon/lycra from Fabric Mart. Were I working with a woven fabric, I would elect to attach the cups temporarily – probably using snaps – to make ironing easier. Step 2: After removing the garment, I used a little help (a lime! Once both cups have been sewn into the lining, I will remove the center front basting and ...
