Monicas Adventures in Alaska. . . . . Oct 29th, 2011 @ 05:53 pm. Last Day in Newtok. It was a bitter sweet day, I was sad to leave Newtok, but also excited for my next adventure. Every year is different and you just never know what next year might bring . . . . A year ago, I would have never imagined that I would be teaching in Newtok. Things can change in a blink of an eye. He has waited 12 years to hold my grandmother in his arms in heaven and this year his birthday present came early. It is sad for all of us to let her go, but now she is free from this terrible Alzheimer’s disease. As a family we will continue to raise money in her memory. This is how I remember my grandparents:.
