My Story of Receiving a Heartmate 2 LVAD. Saturday, January 21, 2012. Oh how things can change in one year! What was going to happen to Darren and the boys? How could a person my age have CHF, I thought that was only for "old" people? One year later, and I'm wondering about a whole set of other questions. How many medicines can I take to improve my heart function? How long do the Dr.'s really think I will have this LVAD? What kind of test are out there to lower my antibodies? My Story of Receiving a Heartmate 2 LVAD. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. May 31st 2011 update. Well it has been several days since Monica has been home, so I thought I would post an update. Wednesday, May 25, 2011. 12 days after major surgery the Doctors released her from the hospital this afternoon. She is still dealing with some pain, but excited to be home. They did an echo test before she left, and the size of her heart has gone from 8cm to 7.1cm! Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Here are a couple photos from today.

Monica’s Heart, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to placing retired racing greyhounds into loving homes. Since our inception in 1996, we have placed over twelve hundred retired racers. Monica's Heart does not have a kennel facility. Our dogs are cared for in foster homes until they are adopted.
