I found a pair of green trousers in a laundromat. They had been washed and abandoned, the stains hadn’t come out, they covered most of the right leg. I took them home. Yesterday I attended a snail burial. He (or she, let’s say he) had a good life. He grew up in Sweden. Brought in by monks in the 12th century. So they could eat something tasty on their fasting days. They didn’t consider them meat. He spent a week in a gallery. In the small town where he was born. Performing together with 107 other snails. From there he travelled on a train up north. To join me and 14 of his companions. Researching the pioneer life in the Swedish forest. He came back with me to Amsterdam.

It took me 7 hours to leave. I sat on all the benches in town, said goodbye to people, waved out my students. And when I got back in the world it didn’t seem like I got lost in time like Rip van Winkle did, it was still the 23d of July, a Thursday. Sitting in my garden I wondered if I would be back in Sokolowsko. A home, a job, wild food in abundance. What more do you need? There’s one thing. Human company. Today is another day. The first day. February 3d 2011. It was the middle of the night when I received the message. I was invited onto the SPACE Programme 2011. While jumping a hole in the air I wondered where I'd left my space suit. The Space Programme offers artists of all disciplines an opportunity to collaborate, experiment and innovate in an inspiring environment. The project takes place over a two-week period at Castletown House. Co Kildare, it is an open ended process hosted by The Performance Corporation. Zondag 27 februari 2011.

Standing on the shadow of the world. When the village sleeps I don’t. I sit in the caravan like a nightowl and try to find words for what has happened during the day. Ridiculous in a way. Or maybe it is true. Maybe it is like the man told me who passed by one day. To tell me he had bought a t-shirt in the Netherlands to support a seal rescue center. And smiled when he remembered the long days he had spent on a bike there. 8220;Fiets” he said, bike in Dutch and “doei! 8221; when he left. 8220;like a clown?
