Beats, Rhymes 'n' Life: Double Dee & Steinski: The History Of Hip Hop
http://tottenhamtottie.blogspot.com/2009/04/double-dee-steinski-history-of-hip-hop.html
What's all this then? This blog is mainly a way of protecting my precious music against electronic loss, but you are most welcome to take anything you like. In all cases, I'd urge you to track down the original, where possible, and purchase it, but I do understand a lot of posts on here are rare and next to impossile to find anymore. Anyway, if you download from me, all I ask is that you leave a comment before you leave rather than just taking anonymously and disappearing. Thursday, 16 April 2009. Steve ...

three-sixty-five45s: July 2005
http://three-sixty-five45s.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
A year in funk, soul, jazz 45s. Sunday, July 31, 2005. Here's another recent find, The Pac-Keys' "Stone Fox" on Hollywood Records out of Texas, I believe. This is actually the second copy of this 45 I've bought. The first one had some noise, and, unfortunately, so does this copy. Seems to be a noisy pressing. You can hear a portion of this tune here. Posted by Dave at 8:26 PM. Thursday, July 28, 2005. From what I understand, it has just started getting spins on the funk scene, if there is such a thing.

Monday, April 23, 2007. SECOND ANNUAL SOUL DETECTIVE MYSTERY CONTEST. Who Will Be Our Lucky Winner? Yes folks, it's that time of year again. The time of year when ol' Red steps off the curb and heads South to Louisiana. Just like last year. When we uncovered a lot of cool stuff about Elton Anderson. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can figure out. Our 2007 Mystery Tune. I played this song to death twenty years ago, and it still holds up as one of my all time faves. And so, we are looking for:. While...

A year in funk, soul, jazz 45s. Wednesday, April 06, 2005. Leon Spencer "Where I'm Coming From" Prestige. Normally I shy away from jazz LPs, prefering my jazz condensed on 45s. Not with "Where I'm Coming From" - it doesn't seem longer than any jazz 45 I have. This track doesn't seem to be overplayed or too long, and consequently, I don't get lost in all the soloing. And the flute and the organ are two of my favorite instruments, so that helps. OK, one more listen. Posted by Dave at 7:48 PM.

three-sixty-five45s: September 2005

A year in funk, soul, jazz 45s. Friday, September 30, 2005. Tonight, Ernie and the Top Notes, Inc. 45 on Fordom Records out of New Orleans, Louisiana. Certainly one of the best funk 45s ever released. Thanks to the Soulstrut. Heatrock auctions for Hurrican Katrina relief, I threw down more cash for this 45 than any record I had previously bought. It is worth every penny. There is an interview with Ernie Williams. Posted by Dave at 4:14 PM. Thursday, September 29, 2005. Spanky Wilson's brilliant "You".

A year in funk, soul, jazz 45s. Tuesday, January 31, 2006. Funky Booty" by The James Young Blues Band shares a sound similar to Jean Knights' "Mr. Big Stuff".but with a bit more bounce. The bass has this plucking quality to it, and those drums, pretty frisky. Throw in the horns and you have a winner. Have a listen here. Posted by Dave at 5:25 PM. Monday, January 23, 2006. Can I Feel It. Quality tune, which you can hear a clip of here. Posted by Dave at 5:21 PM. Friday, January 20, 2006. The song starts o...
