The idea of control. We're all monkeys on this bus. Excerpts from (and links to) our most popular posts about control and relationships. Most controlling behavior is covert hidden or disguised. Why? The reason is obvious. Nobody likes a controller. So nobody wants to be seen as controlling. As a result most controlling behavior is buried beneath a careful attempt to control other people’s reactions to the controller’s attempts to control stuff. Maybe examples will help. Steve, explain what a monkeyship is.

We give this habit different names:. Worrying, obsessing, persevoration. They all amount to the same thing — a kind of futile mental gumchewing. Think about this long enough,. And the harm...

Control: an introduction | Monkeytraps
https://monkeytraps.wordpress.com/control-an-introduction
The idea of control. We're all monkeys on this bus. Means the ability to dictate reality to make people, places and things what we want them to be. It is easily the most important idea in our lives. Because controlling is a built-in function of the human mind. It works like this:. Moment to moment, we each carry around in our heads a picture of the reality we want. And we constantly compare that picture to the reality we have. Studying control has led me to four conclusions:. But there are two areas wher...

Welcome to the wonderful world of. The classic definition of projection is. The unconscious misattribution of unwanted parts of the self onto others. The idea of control. We're all monkeys on this bus. July 8, 2015. THE BOOK) Chapter 37: On this bus. The healthiest anyone gets is neurotic. Thus spake my first supervisor. I was dismayed. Back then, as both a new therapist and a recovering depressed person, I clung to the idea of mental healthiness the way a sinner clings to the idea of redemption. But decades later I know he was right. Think of it as what happens when two sets of needs collide. At the same time we’re also social animals with. But getti...

Wednesday, 29 July 2015. A little while ago I had a washing disaster with my favourite hand knitted cardigan and it ended up like this:. Whoops - I'd hand washed it and then put it in the washing machine on a very low spin, which it apparently didn't like. This is the Geodesic cardigan by Connie Chang Chinchio. I made this back in 2012. And at first it was too big. but over the last 3 years it has become a firm favourite, so I was very sad when it came from the wash looking like this. Links to this post.
