This German Texan: Freyenstein
http://thisgermantexan.blogspot.com/2014/05/freyenstein.html
Saturday, May 17, 2014. When I went to Freyenstein for the first time in 2003, I didn't really know what I was doing. I knew that my great-grandmother's family had come from a town called Freyenstein; I just didn't know which. Freyenstein (there are two in Germany, one in Switzerland). I was on a mission, though, and within 48 hours of arriving in Germany, I set out on the Autobahn in a rented Fiat and headed for the nearest Freyenstein, determined to find the birthplace of my ancestors. I didn’t k...

An American in Wiesbaden. Who do you want to be when you travel? July 05, 2013. So many shoes to consider. not enough days to wear them all. Do I want to be the fashionable Parisian? The knowledgeable wine country woman? Or something else entirely? For the likes of Paris will be tucked in there amongst some of my favorite items. For me, it's all about balancing who I am with what I want out of a holiday and what the locals are like. One part me two parts the location = what I dream my holiday sel...Here'...

This German Texan: December 2012
http://thisgermantexan.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 7, 2012. Everything feels like Christmas here in Germany, even taking the train. I wish I would have been at the Frankfurt main train station yesterday morning to see this:. Deutsche Bahn says, "Reindeer were yesterday".Santa's taking the ICE train now. Mom and me in Rothenburg. We saw some big flakes at the Christmas market there, but by the time we got to Bamberg the following day, it had almost all melted. View from my window at 4:30 pm- it's still snowing!
