Specializing in the absurdity. This is My Brain. Thoughts on being a new mother. April 23, 2015. Over the past two months with A, I think I’ve learned a few lessons here and there about mothering. At least, being a mother to an infant. I have two main lists: “Things people told me about being a mother but I didn’t really understand until it happened” and “Things people don’t talk about but I ended up learning anyways.”. Things people don’t talk about but I ended up learning anyways:. Things people told m...

Specializing in the absurdity. This is My Brain. I have a tapeworm that looks like an alien. August 27, 2014. Oh, by the way, the Guy and I made a lot of dumplings. And it was fun! And I’ve been reading a lot of books, and I thought about writing book reviews too, but never did. Anyways. Part of the reason that I haven’t posted either is because I’ve had something on my mind a whole lot and I didn’t really know what to say about it or how about to talk about it:. In other words, I’m pregnant. 8221; The G...

Pre-Natal Ponderings | Life's Homilies
https://mundaneyetsurreal.wordpress.com/2014/10/16/pre-natal-ponderings
Specializing in the absurdity. This is My Brain. October 16, 2014. I’m writing not because I have something specific to write about. Mainly because I’ve been thinking I should. Also because the Guy is off in the garage working on a new set of stairs for our back porch and I’m kind of bored. I’m pretty sure the baby is alive because I can feel it moving and stuff, and I’m not sure beyond that. Mostly because I can’t see or communicate with the baby. The Guy and I have been learning Portuguese on Duolingo.

Chicken Pot Pie and Future Ovens | Life's Homilies
https://mundaneyetsurreal.wordpress.com/2014/07/22/chicken-pot-pie-and-future-ovens
Specializing in the absurdity. This is My Brain. Chicken Pot Pie and Future Ovens. July 22, 2014. Anyways. I made chicken pot pie. It looks patchy and stuff because there were holes from trying to get the pie crust on. Also, I misread instructions so there was a little too much liquid in the crust as well. Also, we didn’t have shortening, so I thought I’d try with butter, but then the butter started melting and it also made a mess………. Which leads me to my future oven. It is melting in the future. Note th...

Specializing in the absurdity. This is My Brain. This is My Brain. Welcome to Life’s Homilies. By definition, a homily is something that we can learn, like a short lesson, a lecture, a platitude. This site, though originally meant for thoughtful commentary on life, transmogrified into what it is today–a peek into the random thoughts floating around in my brain. If it’s not too much effort, just click on the archives on the side to get to the posts. Thanks. I hope you enjoy your time here.

Where I had to do a month thing. | Life's Homilies

Specializing in the absurdity. This is My Brain. Where I had to do a month thing. April 22, 2015. So I have a baby! The first month I had to do the month thing. Yue zi. Here. Is a brief description. I have learned that every kind of Chinese person–and by kind, I mean regionally–does it slightly differently. It is also, apparently, a tradition that is hundreds of years old. I did have to stay in bed most of the day–for resting (I wasn’t good about that one, though I appreciated mandatory rest). Healthier ...
