Snow and Ice In Montara 01/29/2002. Near the end of January 2002 the S.F. Bay Area experienced a cold spell. I didn't think we would see much impact from the cold since we live on the coast just a little above sea level. As you can see I was mistaken. Snow on Montara Mountain. We searched long and hard and found many interesting houses for sale in the Half Moon Bay area (Loma Mar, Pescadero, Half Moon Bay, El Granada, Moss Beach and Montara). El Grananda Bl., El Grananda. Mike's (very) Amature Astronomy. Now that we live in an area pretty much away from city lights, I thought it was time to get a telescope. I did some research on the web on inexpensive telescopes and decided to get the Orion. Observer 60mm Altazimuth Refractor. This scope is great! What a blast. It also works great for terrestial viewing during the day. For terrestrial viewing I later purchased the Correct-Image 45-degree Diagonal that provides for upright, correct right to left viewing.
