Week 29 | moods of bannockburn

https://moodsofbannockburn.wordpress.com/2014/11/17/week-29

November 17, 2014. Monday was all about grafting. We used the scion cuttings that we had gathered earlier in the year and grafted them to cult rootstock that was growing in a small nursery area at Bannockburn road. The cuttings had been stored in the cool shed over winter wrapped in wet newspaper to keep them from drying out. The cut scions had actually started to bud, I found this amazing! Really cool to see the next part of the process and I must say I really did enjoy the whole process. Week 30 →.

Week 27 | moods of bannockburn

https://moodsofbannockburn.wordpress.com/2014/11/17/week-27

November 17, 2014. Big spring plant sale coming up this long weekend. Spent Monday gearing up for this however the weather was dreadful, so we spent a fair bit of time hiding away inside. Mainly dealt with some softwood cuttings. Tuesday we got a very good info session on fertilizers we went over the when, where and how much. Then it was time to put this into action so filled up the spreader on the back of the john deer and went to work, taking turns to give the cherries some much needed nutrients.

Week 31 | moods of bannockburn

https://moodsofbannockburn.wordpress.com/2014/11/17/week-31

November 17, 2014. Second to last week…… Nearly there! Has been a blast I must say going to be sad to see it finished. Monday saw us learning about birds and all the mischief the little rascals can cause when it comes to stealing fruit from orchards, vineyards and the fruit trees in your backyard! We learnt about control measures and how you have to implement a range of them and keep them varied or else the birds start to ignore them or learn how to avoid your efforts. Week 32 →.
