A fun afternoon looking at amazing gold nuggets, then trying to find our own gold. Kana had great sucess in finding a distinctly heart shaped piece, and most of us found some reasonable sized…ummm…nuggets. And what was the specific gravity of gold again? The big crew got stuck in lifting three herbaceous peony cultivars -‘Paula Fay’, ‘Collina Grenadier’ and ‘Coral ‘n Gold’ from the nursery bed. Both classes learned about the differences between propagation by seed and vegetative propagation (by cuttings, budding, grafting, division, layering and tissue culture).
