streams in the desert: happy summer
http://streamsinthedesert17.blogspot.com/2010/05/happy-summer.html
Streams in the desert. Saturday, May 22, 2010. Back from a week at the beach with students. Fun and crazy and exhausting and beautiful. Last year, we had two students go to the RUF summer conference. This year, TWENTY-TWO. I am not obsessed with numbers, but it truly was incredibly fun to have a group. So many different personalities and stories. A few highlights:. Season finale is tomorrow night (can't wait! The beach : :. Red Bar : :. The best word I can come up with for the chewing, thinking, stewing,...

streams in the desert: hello
http://streamsinthedesert17.blogspot.com/2010/05/hello.html
Streams in the desert. Friday, May 07, 2010. I think i am back. Last day of class was yesterday. Have i really been here two years? I have a secret dream of living in a vine-covered cottage like Miss Honey. Speaking of summer, I had a TCBY waffle cone yesterday and it reminded me so much of summer as a kid, sitting on the curb outside our TCBY with my family. does anyone remember what their special parfaits used to be called? It's the little things that make me just homesick not for a place for a time.

streams in the desert: advent
http://streamsinthedesert17.blogspot.com/2009/12/shaken.html
Streams in the desert. Friday, December 04, 2009. In a Nazi prison in 1945, shortly before he was in hanged as a traitor for opposition of Hitler, Jesuit priest Father Alfred Delp penned these words. There is perhaps nothing we modern people need more than to be genuinely shaken up. Where life is firm we need to sense its firmness; and where it is unstable and has no basis, no foundation, we need to know this too and endure it. Here is the message of Advent: faced with him. Perhaps it was purplish-black ...

streams in the desert: hiatus
http://streamsinthedesert17.blogspot.com/2010/01/hiatus.html
Streams in the desert. Wednesday, January 06, 2010. A time of new beginnings and resolutions. I am more of a year-round resolution maker. Which doesn't mean I am particularly full of resolve. Probably more that I am prone to deep discontent. And I tend to combat dissatisfaction by dreaming up a way to tweak something, start something. So I reserve my right to at some point change my mind about this next statement:. I am taking a break from blogging. This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.

streams in the desert: Never underestimate the power of....
http://streamsinthedesert17.blogspot.com/2009/12/never-underestimate-power-of.html
Streams in the desert. Tuesday, December 15, 2009. Never underestimate the power of. Now before you roll your eyes - seriously, another sentimental food post? Give me a chance to explain. I made green bean casserole for the first time ever. Today Somehow this dish never showed up in my house growing up. It was one of those things I scarfed down at church pot-lucks. How can you go wrong with green bean creaminess and (the best part) fried onions? Such a vast array of personalities and stories and struggles.

streams in the desert: the place where Jesus dwells
http://streamsinthedesert17.blogspot.com/2009/11/place-where-jesus-dwells.html
Streams in the desert. Tuesday, November 17, 2009. The place where Jesus dwells. Have been thinking a lot about heaven and the coming Kingdom and things of that nature the past couple of months. Recently rediscovered this hymn which helped me flesh out some of what has been bothering, challenging, encouraging me about my picture of the coming Kingdom. hope you'll bear with me. The sands of time are sinking, the dawn of heaven breaks. The summer morn I've sighed for, the fair sweet morn awakes:. This hymn...
