Renovation and addition update. Saturday, May 15, 2004. Yesterday (Friday) brought the arrival of a small backhoe. After 4 days of no work. By the end of the day, the foundations of the old addition were pulled out. This morning (Saturday), I was pleased to see the crew show up again to resume work. With the machinery. We went off to see Stu's lacrosse game till around 11am. When we checked out the work, there was a broken black pipe at the base of the excavation. Posted by R @ 11:50 AM.

Renovation and addition update. Thursday, May 06, 2004. Rain on Monday prevented work and no action on Tuesday or Wednesday either, despite sunny weather. However, today the weather cooperated and two guys came with a jackhammer. By the end of the day, several of the cinder block walls of the existing foundation were down. It looks like at least another day or two of jackhammer work may be needed to get the rest of the foundation out. Posted by R @ 10:09 PM. Friday, April 30, 2004. Monday, May 03, 2004.

Renovation and addition update. Wednesday, May 19, 2004. The main part of the excavation. After 3 days of work this week, the forms for the footers are in place with rebar. Awaiting the building inspector. Next will be concrete for the footings, underpinning the existing foundation, and block work for the foundations. The sewer pipe may have to be moved but it shouldn't be a problem. The excavation for the dining room and kitchen bumpouts still need to be dug but can wait a while. Posted by R @ 2:28 PM.
